The kaiako were busy this afternoon setting up these beautiful art collages in the Bayfield High School Hall. 🎨

Over the past couple of weeks, our tamariki have worked hard creating these pieces for the Peninsula School Art Competition.

If you'd like to take a look at their artwork for yourself along with entries from other local schools , pop into Bayfield High School between Tuesday and Friday this week before 5.00 pm.

Two of our tamariki will receive prizes, but we think every one of them has done an amazing job. We're so proud of the creativity and effort, they put into these works. 💛

Bayfield Commonwealth Games fun. Gymnastics, biking, shot put, long jump and more. A fantastic day trying different sports, building confidence, practicing new skills and having fun together. 🚴🏼🏃🏼🤸🏼‍♀️⛹🏼

This week, the tamariki followed their curiosity about the Football World Cup 🏆 and used it as a springboard for learning across the areas of numeracy, literacy, active movement, geography, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Through hands-on experiences, they made connections, shared ideas, and began to notice the many roles and skills that come together in the game of football. ⚽
To celebrate and reflect on their learning, the tamariki ended the week with a special Sports Day. 🏀🏈⚽🏐 They watched a live semi-final football ⚽ match between England and Argentina on the big screen, dressed as their favourite athlete, 👟🏃‍♂️ and enjoyed oranges 🍊 and iced biscuits 🍪 at half time, bringing the excitement of the World Cup into a shared experience. 😊

Due to severe weather, flooding, road closures, and hazardous driving conditions across the region, all of our kindergartens are closed today.

The safety and wellbeing of our tamariki, whānau, and teaching teams is our highest priority. We know this may cause disruption for some families, and we appreciate your understanding and support.

We'll continue monitoring conditions throughout the day and will provide an update about tomorrow's operations as soon as possible.

Please take care, stay safe, and follow advice from emergency services and local authorities.
