A podcast interview with Jacob Howard, an ex Local Church of Witness Lee member, and author of the website thelordsrecovery.org, talks about how he got recruited into the church, and how he eventually came to realize it was a cult.

"Christians on Campus is the recruitment arm of the Recovery. They happily follow a special prophet named Witness Lee, who they believe unlocked the insufficient, locked, closed Scriptures. They practice their Christian faith in a mind-numbingly odd way. They believe in heretical, extra-biblical doctrines that are not Christian at all."

In this video Cal gives some history about the early days of the Lord's Recovery movement. It didn't start out as a cult. It was just a group of believers, meeting together to pursue God. However Witness Lee started to control the group more and more, until he proclaimed that members were to follow him exclusively. Anyone that opposed this was kicked out and demonized. This is when the church went from a group of believers, to a highly controlled, highly organized, hierarchal organization with one person in charge - Witness Lee - to make all the rules. Anyone who disagreed with "The Ministry" of Witness Lee was 'of satan' and 'spreading poison'. No one else was allowed to preach anymore. Witness was a prophet, who had recovered the 'lost truths' of the Bible. Only he could interpret the Bible, not members themselves. Many people who have been in since the very beginning do not realize that it is now a cult. Because it wasn't one when they first joined. But over time it became one. It's a case of boiling the frog in the pot. Put him straight into the pot of boiling water, and he will realize and jump out. But put him in warm water, and raise the temperature slowly and he won't realize what is actually happening. That is why new recruits into this cult are introduced to Witness Lee's doctrines very slowly - over several years even. This way, the new member is oblivious to the fact that they are actually in a cult. It is incredibly deceptive.

In this random street interview with a Local Church member, you can actually see how little members know about the true gospel. The person interviewing her prompts her again and again, waiting for her to tell him the gospel, but she is not able to. Instead, she actually recites back to him Witness Lee's gospel about 'exercising the spirit', and 'calling on the lord' and 'that we're a vessel to contain him'. Here it is plain and clear that Witness Lee preaches an entirely different gospel - one that is based on doctrines that he came up with, that aren't even found in the Bible. When Local Church members are preaching around university campuses, they are not proclaiming the true gospel. They are proclaiming Witness Lee's gospel.

Hi all, please invite any friends to like this page, especially if they are attending university, to help raise awareness of this cult. The Local Churches are very active on university campuses throughout New Zealand and use very deceptive recruitment tactics!

Another ex-member speaks out about the Local Churches (of Witness Lee) being a cult.
"This guy, by all these people that follow him, and by himself, he claimed it, he's the 'Minister of the Age'. Are you kidding me? Where is that in the Bible? He's the Minister of the Age? He is 'the one' - and I believed this - He is the 'go between'. If you want to know God's ministry, the interpretation of the Bible, you have to go through this man. What this man says is 'The Ministry'. He becomes the Christ. And of course everyone in the group will say 'oh no, the Lord is my head'. No he's not. Everything that comes from the Lord has to flow through this man. It has to flow through Witness Lee."
"And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them." Luke 21:8
