Kalani Malaesilia (2nd row third from the right) will openly share that he experienced a challenging childhood through circumstances beyond his control, and this has shaped his deep commitment to supporting others.
As a current parent and valued member of our Bradford School Board, Kalani is passionate about raising awareness and funds for our school counsellor, Jo Smith so that our tamariki have the support and safe outlet that can make such a difference in challenging times.
As a Board whilst we understand the immense value access to counselling brings we had to carefully consider if we could financially sustain this service for 2026. Kalani thought outside the box and stepped up putting his body on the line for our kids purpose which we think is pretty AMAZING!
We are very proud of the hard mahi that Kalani has put into training and wish him well this coming weekend at the Town Hall.
*If you know of any individuals or businesses willing to donate to the cause in this last week before fight night please contact the office and we will share your details with Kalani.

We have many families that celebrate Ramadan and then Eid. Happy Eid! Kauri and Pōhutukawa enjoyed getting together last week to play a Ramadan kahoot (online quiz). It was great to have the older children working together with our younger students.

Happy St Patrick's Day! We have been loving seeing so many tamariki dressed in green today to celebrate. Pōhutukawa has been lucky enough to have Karen in to show us an Irish sport - hurling. We also have been very lucky to have the Irish flag with jelly and ice cream. Thank you very much Karen!
We have also attached some information about St Patrick's Day from EPIC - The Irish Emigration Museum

Unfortunately, the Board has had to make the decision to close the school tomorrow due to a burst water main located beneath a power pole on the school grounds, which presents a serious electrocution health and safety risk. Both the power and water supply to the school are being turned off and cannot be restored until it is confirmed that the site is safe.
Without these services we are unable to provide safe and sanitary conditions for students and staff, and therefore the school must close until further notice. This closure also includes the Burrow before and after school care.
We are hopeful the issue will be resolved tomorrow, however please check HERO for updates in case repairs extend into Friday.
We appreciate this is extremely frustrating short notice for families, but this is a legal health and safety requirement and not a decision we have any option but to comply with.
Thank you for your understanding,
Emma (on behalf of the Board)

This month is Move It March! We are wanting to encourage as many people as possible to walk to school. If you live further away, it still counts if you are able to be dropped off down the hill. Each day your teacher will record down if you walked or wheeled to school. Those children who make a great effort will then have the chance to win one of our prizes donated by the DCC.
Wednesday 11th March is Be Bright, Be Seen day where children can dress up in their brightest clothes.
Let's get moving!

Our chickens are growing up!
We have been lucky enough to have eggs at Bradford. These have been in the incubator and some chicks have hatched. The children are loving having them at school.
