🎸 Ready to pick up a guitar?

Over six relaxed and informal weeks, this beginner-friendly course will introduce you to the essentials of playing guitar. There will be plenty of time to practise, experiment and, most importantly, play some songs!

You’ll cover everything from tuning your guitar and learning your first chords to strumming and picking patterns, tablature, basic music theory and playing along with other instruments. You’ll also explore some of the fascinating history of the guitar, discover famous guitarists, and Peter will share a few cool guitar facts along the way.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a collection of songs to play, a better understanding of your instrument, and the confidence to pick up your guitar and make some music.

What a special weekend it was as our miniature Māori cloak making workshop Iti Kākahu, came to life. It was a privilege to see everyone immerse themselves in the process, learning new skills and creating beautiful taonga. Mahi tika ana, Dunedin WEA students!
