Weber School is looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and innovative Scale A Teacher for our Year 4–8 multi-level class. This is a full-time, fixed-term position covering a leave vacancy for the remainder of the school year.

Rain or shine, we make the most of our break times here at Weber School!

We’ve had a bit of everything lately—cosy indoor games to escape the wet weather, followed by some high-energy dodgeball out in the beautiful sunshine today. It’s great seeing the kids adapting, staying active, and having a blast together no matter what the weather throws at us.

Here are a few snapshots of what they've been up to this week.

🌿💧 Enviroschools Aotearoa NZ in Action: Investigating Our Waterways! 💧🌿

We had a fantastic, hands-on learning session with Nicole Read from Puketoi to the Pacific Catchment Collective, diving deep into water sampling and comparing the different sections of water that feed right into our school creek!

A massive thank you to Simon Hales and Vicki Owen for supplying us with a "kick sample" to investigate. It gave our students an incredible window into the health of our local environment.

The results were eye-opening! Our young scientists spent the day observing, noticing, questioning, investigating, and thinking critically about what they saw. They compared areas with "lots of life" versus spots with "not much life" and came to a powerful conclusion:

🌱 Our Conclusion: Waterways running through land that has been retired and planted support much more water life. The creatures there were significantly bigger, healthier, and more prolific! It just goes to show how much of a difference planting and protecting our land makes.

But our investigation doesn't stop here! After a great class discussion, the students are already plotting their next steps. They want to investigate further by taking water samples from a single source and testing it across different spots—comparing silty areas, stony areas, and deep water to see how the underwater habitat changes what can live there.

Way to go, Enviroschools team! Keep up the amazing curiosity and kaitiakitanga (guardianship) for our environment! 🌍✨

What a way to wrap up the week at Weber School! ☀️

First up, a huge shout-out to our incredible support staff: Mrs. Lewis, Chelsea Mack, and Elle Joblin. These ladies are the backbone of our school, always going the extra mile to make sure our learners have the very best opportunities. We truly couldn’t do it without you—thanks for everything, lovely ladies! 💐

We also went pink today! It was awesome to see our tamariki rocking their pink gear for Pink Shirt Day, reminding us all why it’s so important to be upstanders and look out for one another. 💖

To top it all off, we smashed out our annual Cross Country this afternoon. Whether they ran in the competitive or non-competitive event, every single student gave it 100%. We are so proud of that effort!

A massive thank you to Simon and Trudy for letting us use their farm. That track was absolutely top-notch, and thanks for the brilliant photos, too! It was wonderful to see so many families out there cheering the kids on.
