Dannevirke High School Our Kaupapa - The DHS Way
Respect | Responsibility | Resilience. Dannevirke High School is a safe, healthy and happy school.

Dannevirke High School is a medium sized school for boys and girls in the lower part of New Zealand’s North Island. We are located in the very heart of all the beautiful countryside that New Zealand is so famous for. Our students are able to gain an excellent education as well as enjoy the farms, forests and natural wonderland that surround our school and our town. We have an excellent range of co

urses and options available and where these do not fit a particular student,we access courses through Video Conferencing as well as Correspondence options. Our experienced staff will ensure that students can gain the most from their courses of study, with extra support given to those who need it. Student Leadership, Values Education, Character Education as well as Citizenship Education is targeted through our Whānau system and a comprehensive Pastoral Care system. Vertical Whānau Groups, a well-supported Peer Support structure as well as a large group forming our SADD committee ensure a supportive and caring environment. Come in for a visit and experience this for yourself. No student in this community needs to go further afield as this school offers more than just an education. With the emphasis on engagement and effectiveness, our students excel and do become the best that they can be. Come on board, enjoy the ride and develop into a great human being while doing so!

On Thursday, a group of our Filipino students celebrated their tradition called “Buwan ng Wika”, a month-long celebration where Filipino Whānau share and embrace their language, culture and local heritage. They celebrated it through a cultural presentation during assembly where they shared a speech, their national anthem and patriotic oath, followed by a video and a fun pronunciation game where students had to correctly pronounce Filipino words to win a prize. The students and their families also shared Filipino food with students and staff during lunch time. Bringing everyone together to celebrate was a very special time for us and the students involved. We would like to thank these students and their Whānau for sharing their culture and amazing cuisine with us - Salamat!

Netball. School A.
School A are prepped and ready for the Lower North Island Secondary School Champs next week in Wellington.
The week will be full on with two games each day, starting with their first game at 8.30am Sunday. The tournament starts with 3 games of pool play and from there, the rest of the draw is unknown and dependent on results.
With a mix of experience and newbies in the team, the girls are all up for the challenge and have the goal of remaining in the A grade section.
I am super proud of how the girls have gelled as a team and worked hard on their fitness throughout the season.
We welcome Aja to the team as our travelling reserve.
