Due to the high winds today, all school buses have been cancelled this afternoon.This will also include the technology children at the High School. They will need to be picked up from the side entrance at 2.45pm. We will let the high school know that this is happening.

Please make alternative arrangements to collect your children from school.

We apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause. The safety of our students and drivers is our priority.

ROCKERS Review
Our Year 8 students have been on another William Pike adventure! The William Pike programme aims to challenge, build leadership skills, promote resilience, and get children outdoors trying something new.
High rope climbing at Adrenalin Forest in Porirua is huge fun and ticks all the boxes. We had the course to ourselves and great instructors.
Two mums also tried the course, and we all had the most amazing day. Congratulations Rachael and Aimee!
Everyone came back and said it was the best day ever. Even the rain held off until we were heading to the cars for the journey home. William Pike Challenge strengthens our student leadership capabilities and helps us 'Be the Best I Can Be.'

Disco Fever!

We held our annual disco on Thursday night, and what a night it was! The energy, enthusiasm and positivity were electric! The dancing was fantastic, the music was pumping, and there were glow sticks galore! We were incredibly impressed with the dancing and singing from our ROCKERS!

Once again, our in-house organising duo, Whaea Izelle and Whaea Rozaan, did an amazing job with all the preparations. Thank you also to all the staff who helped create such an amazing night for our ROCKERS!

See you all again next year!!!!

Winter Wellness Appreciation Post!

We are so grateful to live in a community that truly looks after its people.

Our staff received some amazing wellness packs from True Honey and Dannevirke Pharmacy, and we are grateful for their generosity and support.

These products have been absolute lifesavers during the winter season and have certainly helped us get through the coughs, colds, and bugs that seem to be everywhere at the moment!

If you're looking for a little winter pick-me-up, be sure to keep an eye out for these fantastic products.

ROCKER Review

This week, we have had an exciting addition to our sandpit thanks to our amazing PFK! Our new sandpit toys have already led to more collaboration, more creativity, and even more fun for our tamariki.

Our PFK love to fundraise and are always looking for ways to help make our school the very best it can be. They are an enthusiastic group of parents who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.

They are always looking for new helpers and committee members (and you don't have to be on the committee to lend a hand!).

Some of the upcoming ways you can help include:

Helping with the BBQ at Lamb and Calf Day
Bagging up pie orders
Promoting upcoming online fundraisers
Helping with hay over the summer months

The best part? Every dollar raised goes directly back into our school and benefits our children.

William Pike Challenge
On Tuesday this week, Ruahine School was privileged to have Mr William Pike visit. For those who do not know, he is the creator of our William Pike Challenge, which encourages children to get into the great outdoors, have adventures, and spend 20 hours on community service and a passion project.
The children were enthralled and inspired by this extraordinary person (he would say he is just like you or me), who had been through a Mount Ruapehu eruption, lost a leg, and still came out the other side ready to help others and keep on challenging himself. He told the students, "There is always a way you can do better."

ROCKER Review – Book Character Dress-Up Day & Performance

Today we celebrated Book Character Dress-Up Day with an incredible performance from Perform Education.

Through the stories The Big Boil Up, The Only Dinosaur at School, and A Guide to Rocks, we were reminded of the importance of talking about our feelings, understanding that everyone is different, embracing those differences, and finding ways to bring us together.

It was wonderful to see these much-loved books come to life on stage, and our tamariki were engaged, laughing, and learning throughout the performance.

A huge thank you to Perform Education for such an entertaining and meaningful show.
