🐄 BUSY BEES TO HOME: FARM ANIMALS! 🐷

Looking for a super simple activity to do at home? This one is easy, fun and perfect for little hands! 🐴🐑🐔

You’ll need:
🐄 Farm animal toys
🍪 Malt biscuits or anything that is finely crushed
🫓 A tray

That’s it! Let your little one use the biscuits to create their own little farm scene and add their favourite animals. 🐷🐮🐑

A simple activity that encourages imaginative play, creativity and fine motor skills — and hopefully a little bit of animal fun too! 🐔💛

🌼💛 Daffodil Day at Busy Bees 💛🌼

We’re celebrating Daffodil Day all week long here at Busy Bees, filling our days with lots of fun, meaningful and hands-on experiences for our tamariki! 🐝

One of our favourites so far has been this daffodil-inspired tuff tray 🌼✨ We painted a beautiful daffodil onto the tray and invited the children to match the colours to each part of the flower. 🎨💛

While they were busy playing, our tamariki were also developing their colour recognition, matching skills, fine motor skills, concentration and problem-solving — showing us once again that so much learning happens through play! 🌱

We’re proud to be getting our little Busy Bees involved in Daffodil Day and helping them understand the importance of kindness, caring for others and supporting our community. 💛🌼

🐝🍯 A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO THE TRUE HONEY CO! 🍯🐝

We were absolutely blown away by this incredibly thoughtful surprise that arrived for our Busy Bees tamariki! 💛

The True Honey Co. gifted us a beautiful box filled with their Buzzies 400+ Mānuka Honey sachets for kids, along with some of their delicious Mānuka Honey.

Thank you for your generosity and for supporting our tamariki. We truly appreciate it!

🐝 BUSY BEES TO HOME – PLAY DOUGH RECIPE! 🏠

As promised, here is our Busy Bees playdough recipe so you can continue the fun at home! 🎨✨

🧂 WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup salt
• 2 tsp cream of tartar
• 1 large spoon of cooking oil
• 1 cup boiling water
• Paint for colouring 🎨

👩‍🍳 HOW TO MAKE IT:
Simply add all of your ingredients together, carefully pour in the boiling water and mix until it starts to come together.

Then, knead the playdough until it becomes soft and smooth. Add your chosen paint to create your favourite colour! 🌈

Once it’s ready, let the fun begin!

This is a great activity for developing fine motor skills, hand strength, creativity and sensory exploration — all while having lots of fun! 💛

🐝 BUSY BEES TO HOME: OOSHIE EDITION! 🏠

We’ve noticed so many of our children talking about Ooshies lately — collecting them, swapping them and proudly telling us which ones they have! 🦁🐯🦖 So, we thought… why not bring the Ooshie fun into our learning? 😍

✨ To kick off our Ooshie Edition, we’re getting creative with:

🎨 Playdough Stamping – using Ooshies to create fun prints and patterns in playdough! This encourages creativity, sensory exploration, fine motor development and strengthens those little hands and fingers.

Followed with ..

🦶 Feet Matching – matching Ooshies to their corresponding feet! This supports colour and shape recognition, visual discrimination, problem-solving and early matching skills. 🧠👀

And the best part? The children are learning through something they are already SO interested in! 💛

👀 STAY TUNED… because later this week we’ll be sharing our playdough recipe so you can bring the Ooshie fun home too! 🐝✨

✨ Six months down… and what an incredible six months it has been! ✨

We can’t believe we’re already halfway through the year! 💛

The past six months have been filled with laughter, learning, friendships, messy play, milestones, adventures, and so many special memories. Watching our tamariki grow in confidence, curiosity, and kindness has been such a privilege.

We are so excited for everything the rest of the year has in store! From new learning experiences and celebrations to creating even more unforgettable moments together, we can’t wait to see what the next six months bring.

A huge thank you to our amazing tamariki, whānau, and kaiako for making Busy Bees such a special place to learn and grow. 🐝💛

Looking for a simple learning activity to try at home?

This shape matching activity is easy to set up and encourages lots of learning through play!

You'll need:
🧲 A magnetic board
🔺 Magnetic shapes (or shapes cut from cardboard)
📝 Paper
✏️ Coloured pens (that match your shapes)

Simply draw around each shape on a piece of paper, place it on the magnetic board, and invite your little one to match the magnetic shapes to their outlines.

This activity helps develop:
💛 Shape recognition
💛 Fine motor skills
💛 Hand-eye coordination
💛 Problem-solving
💛 Early maths skills
