Moto-Cross. North Island Secondary School Cross Country.

Congratulations to Reuben Charmley, Nate Gore, Levi Ransom and Grayson Cammock who competed in this M-X event today. Their results are impressive.

Thank you to their parents and supporters who helped these boys to compete in this event.

Netball. DHS School A, LNISSC Wellington.
We made it! Final day of LNISS saw us playing a semi-final and final to secure final placings for the tournament.
First up, the girls faced Paraparaumu in a closely contested game. For much of the first quarter it was goal for goal but the girls trailed by two at the break. The team dug deep, working hard on defence to secure turnovers and moving the ball quickly through the court and by half-time the score was even at 14 all.
Unfortunately the 3rd quarter saw the game slip away from us but the girls redeemed themselves in the final quarter, but ended up 34-24 down at the final whistle.

Although everyone was desperate for a win, the team managed to pick themselves back up, ready to take on Kapiti in their last game. After a narrow loss to them in cross-over games, we knew it would be tough but we were up for the challenge. A few mis-directed passes meant Kapiti were given extra opportunities under the post and took an early lead. The Dannevirke girls showed they were not done yet and the second quarter was 5 all. Unfortunately, it is hard playing catch up netball but I couldn't have asked for more as the girls worked hard and showed real teamwork to support each other for the second half. Again, Kapiti had the upper hand in the third quarter and a strong fight back saw the final quarter score 5 all once more. End score was 27-17 to Kapiti.

Each and every girls should be proud of their efforts this week and the resilience they showed throughout a tough week. To finish the tournament, the team was awarded the Bayleys Real Estate Altogether Better award, winning $200 fuel vouchers. The team were recognised for teamwork that's next level, spirit that never quits, overcoming challenges, amazing management and positive vibes both on and off the court.

At the LNISSC, the girls finished the day by managing to meet 'A Grab a Photo' with Netball greats Jane Watson and Te Paea Selby-Rickett.

What a great day!! The girls showed what they were made of today and played their best games to date. Although we still didn't manage a win, the team played outstandingly and gave 100%.
First up we played Whanganui Collegiate and lost 50-26, although the score does not reflect the game. Whanganui had a great start and had a big lead at half-time. However, the second half was a different story, with the score of this half only being 21-16.
GS Bella was on fire with her shots and she combined well with both Jess and Haylee. The girls played with confidence and moved the ball well through the court. Defence Amber, Kendra and Sophie came up against a very tall, strong shooter but still managed to come away with a few turnovers.

The second game was against St Matthews Collegiate and even after the hard-fought battle this morning, the girls played with pride and determination. A good start meant we only trailed by 1 at quarter time. The second quarter saw St Matt's pull away a little bit but the girls were focussed and hunting for at least twenty goals. The second half was very goal for goal at the final score was 41-29 to St Matt's.
GD Kendra was outstanding at GD and middies Maia, Mya, Taya and Camryn controlled the ball well and backed each other up through the court. Once again, Bella, Haylee and Jessie were on point with their shooting and Jessie also proved valuable when moved into GK at half time.

Congratulations to Kendra who reached the milestone of 50 games for School A today and huge thanks to our supporters who come to watch - we really do appreciate it.

Last day tomorrow starting with an 11.30 game against Paraparaumu and then a final game later in the afternoon.

Netball. DHS School A. LNISSC Wellington.
Another tough day at the courts but the girls can be proud of their efforts, attitudes and play.
First up we faced Wanganui High School, going down 52-18. A slow start gave Wanganui many opportunities to score off our ball and take the lead early on. Playing catch up is always hard, but the girls kept going, having a fantastic third quarter and managing to keep Wanganui under 10 goals for this period of play. With a big loss, the girls had to dig deep, leave it behind them and focus on the game yet to come.

Second game we faced Kapiti College, with both sides striving for their first win. Unfortunately, this was the game that got away on us. Dannevirke started very strong, holding a narrow one goal lead at quarter time. The game continued to be goal for goal and by half time that one goal lead had gone to Kapiti. The girls continued to give their all, pressuring the ball on defence and creating turnovers. However, Kapiti managed to increase their lead slightly each quarter to finally take the game 36-28.

Although we have yet to secure a win, the girls, their whānau and the school can be very proud of the way they are playing. We are seeing their great attitudes and awesome team culture here in Wellington. We finished the day with team bonding at Bowlrama which was very entertaining!

With rest and a good sleep, the girls were ready for Day 2. First up was St Peters', who we knew would also be hungry for their first win. Unfortunately, we didn't fire from the first whistle and at quarter time, St Peters had got out to a good lead.
As the game went on we started to show we could match them as the girls put everything on the line and worked hard. The score at half time saw the girls down 24-9 so they set the goal to get at least 20 if they couldn't get the win.
It was a game of two halves as the team found another level in the second half and the score for this half was 13-12 to St Peters, with our defence tightening up and good patient feeding being rewarded by accurate shooting. This game saw the end of our pool play, leading into stage 2 cross-overs.

The second game was against Iona, who had placed third in their pool. On reflection of earlier games, the girls knew they needed a good start and to be in the game from the beginning. Securing the first goal of the game built confidence and the shooting combo of Haylee and Jessie were unstoppable as we took an early lead.
It didn't take long for Iona to start coming back and they led by 2 at the first break. The game continued to be goal for goal, with girls pushing hard to keep it that way. Mya and Maia combined well through the mid-court and Sophie managed some fantastic intercepts at GD.
A few missed passes slipped in as the girls tired and Iona capitalised, but it was certainly the best game yet and the team are certainly growing with each and every game. Final score was 44-35 to Iona.

Tomorrow sees the next two games of this cross over phase, beginning with a 9.30am game against Whanganui High School (live-streamed court 5) and 1.30 match up against Kapiti College.

Thanks to all the messages of support we are receiving and to those that have made the journey down to watch. It is very much appreciated by the girls and management..

Netball. School A. LNISSC, Wellington.

Report of todays games from Michelle.

We've made it through the first day! We always knew the first day was going to be very tough but the girls kept their heads high and played with pride.
First up was Samuel Marsden Collegiate, we lost to 52-21. Although the score was big, the girls showed flashes of brilliance and some lovely play. Shooters Jessie, Bella and Haylee had good accuracy throughout when they got opportunities to score and at the opposite end, Amber came up with some great intercepts. Maia showed good patience in the mid-court when feeding into the shooters. The girls finished strong in the final quarter score only being 8-5.

The second game saw us come up against Napier Girls' High School, who are currently ranked 3rd. They were a class side but we managed to get to double figures, losing 55-13. Goal defence Taya worked tirelessly in this game, claiming many tops and intercepts and again, Mya and Maia worked hard to get into good feeding position.
Congratulations to Aja who came on at GS during the game, making her debut for School A. The girls once again fought until the end, shown by the last quarter score being one of the best at 9-4.

Tomorrow morning we face St Peters in the last of our pool games before cross-overs begin tomorrow afternoon.
The team are positive and looking forward to the next challenge.

Netball. School A.
School A are prepped and ready for the Lower North Island Secondary School Champs next week in Wellington.
The week will be full on with two games each day, starting with their first game at 8.30am Sunday. The tournament starts with 3 games of pool play and from there, the rest of the draw is unknown and dependent on results.
With a mix of experience and newbies in the team, the girls are all up for the challenge and have the goal of remaining in the A grade section.
I am super proud of how the girls have gelled as a team and worked hard on their fitness throughout the season.
We welcome Aja to the team as our travelling reserve.

Netball Uniforms:

Netball uniforms are now due back tomorrow at the school office.

Please ensure all uniforms are washed, dried, and returned in a bag with the student's name and team clearly labelled.

School A requires these uniforms for their competition on Saturday, so prompt return of all uniforms is appreciated.
