Goldfields Primary School

Goldfields Primary School Creating a love of learning within a safe, caring, respectful, sustainable environment where individ The roll is predicted to exceed 265 this year.

Goldfields Primary School is a decile 8, co-educational state primary school, catering for year 1 to 6 children, which has experienced significant roll growth in recent years. Most of our children live within walking or biking distance of the school, but children also travel by school bus from the rural areas of Cromwell – Bannockburn, Ripponvale, Lowburn, Pisa Moorings. An enrolment scheme has be

en in place since 2011. The board continues to prioritise school expenditure to ensure our children have the best possible learning opportunities and environments, with a focus on supporting our diverse range of learners, providing additional staffing, upgrading school facilities, and purchasing up-to-date resources. Ultrafast broad-band, which was connected in 2014, the continual upgrade of computer devices available to our children, the use of a Google platform to support teaching and learning, and teachers’ effective pedagogical practice supports the Boards commitment to e-learning in our school. Our current ratio of at least 1:2 computer devices for our Y4-6 children and 1:3 for our Year 1-3 children ensures all children have access to e-learning. The high level of building maintenance; numerous school ground developments, including play areas for children; additional classrooms; classroom refurbishment; a community funded school hall; the development of native garden, vegetable and fruit gardens, are indicative of the forward thinking nature of our school community and their commitment to our children. The school achieved Green-Gold Enviroschools status in 2014, which demonstrates the school’s commitment to empowering children to develop sustainable practices.

Kia ora koutou,

REMINDER!

It is Daffodil Day today - so we invite all our children to wear yellow or bright spring colours and bring a gold coin donation for the Cancer Society. Our goal is to raise $500 and if every child brings $2 we will absolutely smash that total. There is a collection box in the office if you would like to donate directly into it this morning.

Please make sure your child has a coat or warm layers to wear outside - we have been cooped up with rain over the last two days and our children will want to get outside to play today. Our classrooms are warm - so an outside layer is a must!

It was fantastic to be part of an historic moment today with our whānau leaders laying a wreath for our school at the Cromwell Cenotaph in its beautiful new home. A memory that these children can hold as representing our school at the first service at the new site. We were proud to stand alongside students from Cromwell Primary at this event.
