Linwood (Pegasus) Toastmasters meeting #1560:

Last week our Toastmaster was Mark Ambrose, who chose the theme of music for the evening. Throughout the meeting, he shared some informative and fascinating facts about music, instruments and musicians with the audience.

We had two speakers this meeting. Our first speech was from Chamila Wickramasinghe, who gave us an informative speech about the differences between the two types of elephants (Asian and African). Our second speech was from George Mulligan, whose speech “Living the dream” was about analyzing his dreams and how they relate to things happening in his real life.

Linwood (Pegasus) Toastmasters meeting #1559:

Last week our Toastmaster was Nicki Sullivan, who chose the thought-provoking theme of “is the grass always greener on the other side?” for the evening.

We had two speakers this meeting. Our first speech was from Beth Bradley, who spoke candidly about her recent visit to Burwood Hospital to check up on her knee and her upcoming surgery. The second speech was from John Sullivan, who spoke about his experience as a protege in a law firm and the importance of effective mentoring.

Tonight our theme was ancestors with our Toastmaster Beth sharing about her ancestors from the Shetland islands and also sharing some interesting facts about this fascinating part of the world. We had 2 speeches tonight, a speech from Nicki about staying cool under pressure and an ice breaker speech from our newest member Helen sharing about some of her interests and ideas.

Toastmasters meets every Thursday night from7:30 to 9:30pm at the Harakeke club 603 Gloucester Street. We are a friendly club where you can come and increase your confidence and get better at public speaking. Guests always welcome.

Linwood (Pegasus) Toastmasters meeting #1557:

This week our Toastmaster was John Sullivan, who chose the timely theme of Matariki. Throughout the meeting he shared some facts about the Matariki star cluster, and invited us to share our thoughts and experiences with the holiday. We also had a round of Matariki themed table topics in the second half.

Our speaker this evening was George Mulligan,who delivered a speech entitled “Funny weather, isn’t it?”, Where he shared some facts and figures of the most extreme examples of weather and temperature on record, and contrasted them with the extremes elsewhere in our solar system.

Special thanks to our out-of-club guest Ange, second-time guest Michael, and first-time guest Yun Yi.

Linwood (Pegasus) Toastmasters meeting #1556:

This week our Toastmaster was George Mulligan, who chose the theme of “Life Hacks” for the evening where he shared various pieces of advice with us to use in our everyday lives..

Our speaker this evening was Mark Ambrose, who delivered a speech about what makes a good sci-fi, based on his recent observations while binge-watching one of his favourite sci-fi shows (Stargate SG-1).

We had an entertaining round of table topics lead by Mark Ambrose, who prepared topics around the theme of the evening, encouraging participants to share their own advice on dealing with everyday situations..

Tonight our club President George presented our newest member, Helen Burgess, with her official toastmasters name badge.

Last night the theme for the evening was 50 years of Apple. Our Toastmaster Mark regaled us with tails from Steve Jobs and other Apple trivia. We had one speech last night from Alasdair who spoke on the increasing cost of living. Tabletopics was on the theme of technology. A special thank-you to our 2 guests Najeve and Kieran for joining us last night.

Linwood Toastmasters is a place to practice public speaking in a friendly supportive environment.

On Thursday we had a theme of fruit with our Toastmaster Mark regailing us with facts about different fruits. We had one speech by Beth who encouraged us to send our children to private school. Tabletopics also tied in with the fruit theme with our Tabletopics master George getting us to talk on well known sayings connected with fruit.
Pegasus toastmasters meets every Thursday between 7:30 to 9:30pm at the Harakeke Club 601 Gloucester Street and is a friendly and encouraging club where you can improve your public speaking skills. Visitors always welcome. 🙂
