Ski Day at Mt Hutt

Winter Sport

The Winter Sport season has now wrapped up. With only missing one week, the weather really did play ball. The new CAIMS structure has seemed to work well and we've had great feedback from whānau.

A big thank you to all the coaches and supporters that came down each week. We now look to Koru Games at the end of the term.

Top Results:
- Table Tennis A: 2nd Place
- Table Tennis B: 3rd Place
- Hockey A: 1st in Non-Championship Grade

ENROLMENTS FOR 2027

We are accepting 2027 enrolment applications until 31 August 2026.

Enrolment applications will be subject to being in-zone or by winning a place through our out-of-zone applications. The Board has determined that 140 Year 7 places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students next year (2027).

Out-of-zone enrolment applications are certainly welcome. We envisage accepting the majority of out-of-zone enrolments so please do not be put off applying.

Term 2 Highlights

It has been another incredibly busy and vibrant term here at Kahikatea Kirkwood Intermediate School! Our students have thrown themselves into a wide range of academic, cultural, and sporting opportunities, making us immensely proud of their hard work and school spirit.

Some of this term's fantastic highlights included:
• Academic & Technology Challenges: The University of Canterbury Kiwi Competition, EPro8 Technology competition, Otago Problem Solving, Kids’ Lit Quiz and extension classes.
• Cultural & Community Events: Our vibrant International Food Festival, powerful Kapa Haka performances, Whānau Hui, and a very successful Open Day.
• Sports & Trips: Weekly Winter Sports and enriching class trips to the Air Force Museum and Riccarton House.

We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing, and happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great term in Term 3!
