🌿 PIA Workshop at Prebbleton Playcentre 🌿

Last Friday we had our very first PIA workshop — a chance for our whānau to come together, learn, reflect, and explore new ways of supporting our tamariki through play.

While some parents were busy workshopping, our tamariki were busy doing what they do best… PLAYING! 😍

We had amazing play invitations set up, with plenty of messy creativity happening — from squishy playdough creations, to sandpit adventures, water play, and lots of exploring.

The best part? The “aftermath” was exactly what we wanted to see 😉 Curious minds, busy hands, happy tamariki, and lots of learning happening naturally through play.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the session run smoothly. It was a great example of our Playcentre whānau working together ❤️

✨ A little throwback to our Matariki celebration at Playcentre.

We enjoyed an evening of glowing lanterns, dancing, a bonfire, and plenty of fun together. Seeing the children explore, play, and light up the night made it a special way to celebrate Matariki.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! 🌟

Happy Matariki!

What a wonderful Term 2 it's been! 💚

From splashing in water and getting messy with paint, to climbing, creating with playdough, using real tools, and adventuring through our Explorers sessions—our tamariki have been busy learning through play every step of the way.

Every muddy slide, masterpiece, challenge, and moment of curiosity has helped build confidence, friendships, and lifelong skills.

Thank you to all our amazing whānau for being part of our Playcentre community this term. We hope everyone has a safe, happy, and restful school holiday, and we can't wait to see you back for more adventures in Term 3! 🌿✨

✨ Matariki Celebration ✨

What a wonderful evening celebrating Matariki together with our Playcentre whānau. From shared kai to lantern making, songs, dancing, marshmallows around the fire, and time spent connecting, it was a beautiful way to honour this special season.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, volunteered, contributed food, and helped make the evening so memorable. It truly showed the strength of our amazing community. 🌟

As we continue our journey through the stars of Matariki, this week we explored Waitā and Waitī, the stars associated with food and life from the sea and freshwater. 🌊

Our tamariki enjoyed a water play invitation, discovering sea and freshwater creatures through hands-on exploration and imaginative play. Through this sensory experience, they learned about the importance of our oceans, rivers, and lakes, and the special place they hold in the stories of Matariki.

As we learn about the stars of Matariki, this week we explored Tupuānuku, the star connected to food grown from the earth. 🌱

Our tamariki helped make a warm vegetable soup with pumpkin, kūmara, and carrots during our sessions at the centre and at Explorers at Mt Vernon, celebrating the harvest and enjoying the simple pleasure of preparing and sharing food together. Along the way, we planted kūmara and explored how healthy soil helps things grow.

With Matariki approaching, our tamariki are learning about the different stars of the Matariki cluster and what they represent.

This week we explored Ururangi, the star of the winds. 🪁 What better way to celebrate than by making and flying homemade kites!

🎉 What a fantastic night! 🎉

Our Quiz Night fundraiser was a huge success, raising over $1,500 for Prebbleton Playcentre! 🥳

A massive thank you to everyone who came along, rallied a team, donated prizes, bought raffle tickets, and helped spread the word. We loved seeing everyone get into the spirit of the evening with their creative costumes and team themes!

A special thank you to The Good Home Prebbleton for being wonderful hosts, generously donating prizes and contributing 10% of meal sales from the evening.

The funds raised will go towards new outdoor play equipment, creating even more opportunities for our tamariki to grow, explore and learn through play.

Thank you to our amazing community for your support and for making the evening such a fun and memorable event. 💙
