What a weekend for Arbor Master at South Island Tree Climbing Championships in Dunedin. Alfie finishes 2nd overall, Leo top 10 finish also. Hamish, who has been climbing for just 3 months finished 15th out of 37 climbers, including 3rd overall in Ascent. Alex, competing in his first competition finished 24th. Thanks to the sponsors and organisers of the event.

Aerial rescue training last week. Essential skills which we hope we never have to use. Also a great chance to practice for South Island tree climbing champs this weekend. Thanks to CCC for allowing us access to the beautiful trees at Risingholme Park.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Thanks to the legends at Avant NZ we’ve taken our wee green machine and upsized it a bit.

The Avant 750 landed on site this week and is already pulling its weight.

Looking forward to the jobs we can tackle with this machine moving forward!

✨ Heli Job ✨

This time last year, we’d just teamed up with the legends at to remove a failing pine in a regenerating gully out in Diamond Harbour.

To protect the established native bush below and keep things efficient with limited access, we went for a heli dismantle. 🚁

With perfect weather, Tweezers in the pilot’s seat, and our crew working seamlessly in the tree and on the ground, it was all over in a whirlwind hour. 🌪️

Big thanks to everyone who was involved, We won't forget this one for a while.

🌲 Comp Season 2025! 🌲

After a long break from the tree climbing competition scene, Arbor Master was back in action — fielding six competitors at this year’s South Island Regionals in August! 💪

It was an epic day for the crew with wins or podiums in 4 of the 5 prelim events 🥇🥈 🥉and two national qualifiers heading through! 🔥

At the end of September, Alfie made the trip north to Auckland for the Nationals, spending the weekend learning from some of NZ’s best — both on the ropes in prelims and volunteering as the in-tree technician for Sunday’s Masters comp. 🌿

Now we’re looking forward to the ITCC in Christchurch on the 17th–19th of October — what an incredible opportunity to have the world’s best climbers competing right here in our backyard! 🌏🌳

A massive thank you to all the incredible volunteers and judges who give up their time and energy to make these events what they are — you’re the backbone of the climbing community. 💚

Leo modelling the lightning tree.
Previous owner of the property thinks this Giant Redwood was struck by lightning around 40 yrs ago.
The upper crown grew back over the years but has been removed due to safety concerns. Will leave the remainder as a feature.
