Connecting with our community is something we truly value at Little Blue Penguin. Today, we were fortunate to welcome Wendy from our local library, who shared a wonderful storytime with our nursery and preschool tamariki.

It was a fantastic opportunity to foster a love of books, language, and literacy while strengthening our connections within the local community. Ngā mihi, Wendy, for spending time with us we can’t wait to see you again! 📚🐧💙

Our tamariki have been putting their creativity, perseverance, and problem solving skills to the test as they worked together to complete puzzles, celebrating each success along the way. We also transformed into little scientists, creating our own mini volcanoes by adding vinegar to baking soda and watching the exciting fizzing eruptions! 🌋✨

Our tamariki are excited to once again enjoy an out of preschool learning experience, building new skills, confidence, and teamwork through fun games and drills with our Kelly Sports coach. We can’t wait to see everyone challenge themselves, stay active, and have lots of fun along the way!

What a wonderful way to start our wintery day at preschool! ❄️☕ We wrapped up our fun school holiday activities with a cosy Pyjama and Hot Chocolate Day. Seeing our tamariki rugged up in their favourite PJs, sharing warm hot chocolate, and enjoying time together made for the perfect winter celebration. 💙

Our mixed-age environment nurtures tuakana-teina, with our older tamariki supporting and guiding our younger friends each day. Through these everyday interactions, we foster leadership, kindness, confidence, and whanaungatanga as our tamariki learn and grow together. 💛🌿

This week we have been celebrating Matariki through creative experiences and sensory play. Our pēpi and tamariki have been exploring stars, play dough and paint sparking curiosity and wonder as they engaged in hands-on learning. These experiences support their growing connection to te ao Māori while encouraging exploration, creativity, and discovery. 🌟🖤

Getting out and about in our local community provides rich learning opportunities for our tamariki, helping them build relationships with one another and the wider world around them. By connecting with people, places, and things in their community, tamariki develop curiosity, confidence, a sense of belonging, and physical wellbeing. 🌿🚶‍♀️💛
