After just two weeks of rehearsals the 2024 Stage Band belted out a smashing rendition of Feeling Good for the Year 9 assembly this week. Most impressively led by Erik Misnyovszki who is the first Year 9 in Cashmere history to take a spot as one of the Stage Band vocalists. Keep an eye out for more events later this year featuring Stage Band and Erik.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a great music programme and such talented staff and students to work with at Cashmere. A highlight of each assembly is the musical item.

Today we had our annual Primary Schools tour. It’s always such a joy to take our Concert and Stage Bands on the road into the community to inspire that next generation of musicians. Many of our own band members went to these schools and it’s great for them to able to give back and show their old teachers how far they have come.

A big thanks to Christchurch South Karamata Intermediate School and Cashmere Primary for having us and a big thanks to our seniors for coming back from their student leave to join us for the tour.

And that’s our last day on tour. An impromptu concert in the park by Brass Ensemble with Mr Zilber in the morning. Then taking the ferry over to Taronga Zoo and seeing all the amazing creatures. Dinner in Darling Harbour and then home to catch an early flight tomorrow.

This has been an incredible experience for students and staff alike. We have got to see so many inspirational performances, been privileged to perform all over Sydney and get to experience the Zoo, Aquarium, Opera House the Maritime Museum and so much more.

The students have been incredible ambassadors for Cashmere High and every where we have performed they have overwhelmingly thanked us and invited us back anytime.

An enormous thank you must go out to all the Staff involved in the planning and ex*****on of this tour and especially Mr Bartley who has done an exceptional job making this tour a reality.

Ka mau te wehi!!

Stage Band Feeling oh so Good at the Manly Jazz Fest.

Photos from Cashmere High School Music's post 24/09/2023

Such an amazing experience getting to play on the big Jazz Stars of the Futures stage at the Manly Jazz Festival yesterday. Cannonball Collective and Stage Band played to a great audience (even including a few kiwis) and had a wonderful time yesterday. The quality of all the jazz for the weekend was mind blowing and so inspirational for our bands.

After Manly we all met at the Capitol Theatre to see Beauty and the Beast. The Disney magic was in full flight as we were all shocked by the incredible effects, choreography, music and performances.

One full day to go now. What an incredible trip this has been.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to perform in the Manly Jazz Festival. So much fun!!
