This afternoon we decided to try a foam balloon experiment and it was a big success for both our Nursery and Preschool tamariki.

First we needed a balloon, a bottle, warm water and dish liquid. We added the water and a good dollop of dish liquid to the bottle.
Next, I blew up the balloon, left it untied but twisted the top so we could put it on the bottle without losing the air.
Our third step was to hold the balloon in one hand and the bottle in the other and untwist the balloon.
Lastly we shook the balloon up until it sounded nice and frothy before we put it down and let go to watch the magic happen!

This activity definitely has a splash zone and it can shoot up quite high so if you want to try it at home, outside might be best 😆

Our tamariki loved it and were eager for another go so we added yellow dye and had yellow bubbles shooting out too 💛

This was our pysadellic colour foam experiment. We talked about how the dishwash liquid created a barrier between the colour layers . How the dishwash made our bubbles bigger as the vinegar mixed in to the baking soda

We did some science experiments outside in the sandpit today 🥰 our friends were super excited to see the volcanic eruption activity.

Our clever tamariki enjoyed creating these beautiful windows using cellophane and duroseal. They selected which colours and shapes to use and then with lots of opportunities for problem solving they created these beautiful patterns.

What a perfect way to settle into a busy day in the nursery, but with some painting. Tamariki got to express themselves with colour mixing, big dots little dots, big swishes little swishes, little circles and big circles. Getting creative and messy is always FUN!!! ✌️🎨🖌
