Little Owls Preschool

❄️ Today in the nursery we got to explore some ice that had formed in some bowls of rain water we had collected outside.

Together kaiako and tamariki observed the temperature of the ice and both the size and weight of it in their hands. We watched as the ice shattered when we dropped it and stomped on it and how it melted in our hands.

Of course tamariki also had a taste test prior to stomping too where they discovered it was smooth, crunchy and icy cold in their mouths 🥶

Safe to say we had a lot of fun exploring the natural elements today! ❄️❄️

Today in the Nursery we’ve been busy making pēpi Pukeko!
First tamariki took off our shoes and socks before our kaiako painted their feet blue!
Once our Pukeko were dry kaiako drew on the beaks and eyes and tamariki chose the colour for their Pukeko’s feet.
We think they turned out pretty cute!

Colours and shapes for hui time in preschool!!

Our Little Owls friends enjoyed drawing shapes in the air with their Kaiako today. Recognising different shapes and colours was fun 🤩

🌈 This afternoon some our nursery tamariki have been exploring a ball ramp.

Together they’re working to practice their turn-taking, beginning to develop an understanding of gravity and problem-solving when the balls get stuck or don’t roll the way they’d hoped.

This morning we had some of our tamariki using chalk to draw pictures on the concrete.

It turned into drawing around the bike track to ‘create’ their own track which was really exciting 🥰

Seeing them working together, sharing their ideas was really exciting to see ❤️

This morning, our Little Owls friends were helping their Kaiako with the garden 🪴
Our little gardeners came across some snails 🐌 they all took turns holding the snails. Some were big and some were small.

Our tamariki learnt to take of the snail family and took them around for an adventure 🥰

Today our Little Owls friends are feeling the festivities!

We had lots of fun today for our midwinter Christmas!

We are also grateful for the yummy kai prepared by our awesome Kaiako 😍
