Cutting Edge Without the Cut: Discovering Interventional Radiology

Kia ora team,

We’re thrilled to invite you to a special lunchtime session with Dr Missa Mohd Amin (MBChB, FRANZCR) — a Consultant Interventional Radiologist based in Christchurch with a passion for image-guided procedures that make a real difference in patients’ lives.

Dr Amin is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist in Christchurch with a passion for image-guided procedures that make a real difference in patients’ lives. Originally from Malaysia, she studied medicine at the University of Otago and completed her radiology training in Wellington in 2021. She undertook dual fellowships in Abdominopelvic Imaging and Interventional Radiology and holds EBIR certification.

She enjoys teaching and mentoring future doctors. As a mum of two, she’s proof that it’s possible to thrive in a cutting-edge specialty while keeping family at the centre. She looks forward to inspiring the next generation of doctors through her experiences and insights into the evolving world of interventional radiology.

✨2025 LIONZ FORUM - 7-8th June - students register for FREE ✨

The 2025 LIONZ (Ladies in Orthopaedics NZ) Forum is being held in Dunedin at the Fable Hotel from 7th to 8th June 2025!

LIONZ are committed to supporting female surgeons, breaking down barriers, promoting diversity and being advocates for cultural change.

The event outline is as below:
- Saturday morning (All students welcome): Presentations by Nick Petrie & Fiona Moir focussed on wellbeing and resilience, followed by UK Professor Carrie Newlands speaking on harassment & wellbeing in trainees.
- Saturday lunch onwards (female identifying delegates): dynamic hands on workshop tailored for our female delegates
- Saturday evening (All students welcome): there’s a glam dinner at Lanarch Castle
- Sunday morning (Female identifying delegates): Research and mentoring session
- Sunday midday: Forum closes

As with previous years, the workshop & Sunday session is only for those identifying as female. LIONZ welcome everyone to register for the morning speaker session & dinner.

This session is designed for our incoming ALM4’s —covering the top tips and tricks we wish we had known before stepping into the operating theatre and navigating clinical years ✨ Plus, you’ll have the chance to ask questions and hear insights from a panel of students who were in your shoes just a year or two ago!
