This week’s detailed artwork at the Richmond Club, The Borough, who have just won the ‘People’s Choice’ at The New Zealand Hospitality Awards, congratulations to an amazing hospo team.

Brrr…has been a chilly week working outside for the cutest Irish bar in Chch, Paddy McNaughton’s, branding their Guinness barrels and the neighbouring Church Bar barrels. Digging the character of these 2 heritage buildings lovingly preserved after the earthquakes.

As a child I always loved drawing and painting. Here's me at the tender age of 4 (circa 1969) at kindergarten getting into some finger painting in my hessian smock!
The next year I moved on to Primary school and learnt to write the alphabet and numbers on the chalkboard at the front of the classroom which fostered a great love of lettering. So when I run into people and they ask what I'm up to now I say I'm still doing what I was doing at the age of 5, chalking on chalkboards but now it's grown up fun and a means of earning a living! Small beginnings can lead to big rewards.

Time to share my hand painted and chalk projects from May, a varied bunch of jobs including a fun 50th Top Gun inspired birthday board for Jonnys man cave in Otematata, a revamp of the Top Twenty board for Harcourts Gold, retro style wall feature for Smoke n Barrel, What’s On board for Bridies and some good old fashioned lettering work for The Victoria, an authentic English pub with hand pulled beers and traditional fare. Definitely one to check out to warm up these cold winter nights.

A big welcome to all my new followers and to Wind Back Wednesday! Hopefully you've all had a good look at some of my more recent projects but I thought it would be fun to take a look back at the early 2000's (yes I've been around that long, established 1996). Some of you may remember The Loaded Hog Bar pre the Christchurch Earthquake, a real social hot spot with a huge wall covered in chalk portraits of celebrities, sports people and other famous faces including Beyonce as Foxy Cleopatra, Robbie Williams and many more. Feeling nostalgic!
