The Kaitiaki Club have been busy this morning, planting broccoli, cauliflower, peas and onions in our gardens! These are all vegetables that Kura uses in our lunches regularly so we cant wait to watch them grow and harvest them to have for lunch in a few months time. 🥦🧅🫛🧄🍓🫒🥒🥕🍅🌽

Keep an eye out once the frosts are over too we have many more veges to plant!

Yesterday for totara time we continued our Spring celebration by learning about where some Spring time baby animals like
live. We learnt that baby lambs like to live in fields, baby chicks like to live in a hen house,
baby rabbits live in a hutch and baby ducklings like to live on a pond. Ngā tamariki cut out their baby animal pictures then glued them next to the correct habitats.

Today’s Moving with Minnies session involved ngā tamariki playing balancing games using a wobble balance board. Firstly we did some stretches and then spent time learning how to balance on the wobble board and stabilise it and having a go standing on one leg, squats and planks. Then we increased the difficulty playing some more challenging games. Lots of learning today for ngā tamariki, moving confidently and challenging themselves physically, gaining confidence and control over their body movements which assists with building core strength, balance and coordination, concentration, turn taking and encouraging and supporting each other. Ka pai everyone we loved watching you rock and roll.

For Thursday’s totara time we revisited our seasons/weather topic by creating our own spring flowers. This involved cutting out all the different parts of a flower then gluing them onto their page in the right order. We learnt that the roots grow under the soil, then comes the stem and leaves and the flower sits on top. Great concentration and task completion from ngā tamariki.

On Tuesday we made a special gift for Dad during totara time - we made salt dough stars. Then on Wednesday when they were dry the stars were painted. We hope that our special dads will want to wear their special medallion to our Father’s Day disco tonight!!!🕺
