Today we had some special visitors come to Minnies. We were very privileged to have Kate (Augusta's Grandma) bring in two spring lambs for the tamariki to feed and pat. Thank you so much Kate for bringing them in for the tamariki to see! ππ
Today for totara time we practiced our mathematical skills by rolling the dice, counting the dots, writing down the number then adding the numbers together. Tamariki are learning about the symbols of + and - and adding 2 numbers together to reach an answer. We also practiced drawing shapes.
The country came town, and we had 2 little lambs at preschool
Happy 3rd birthday to our beautiful Iris. Wishing you a fabulous day from all your Kaiako and friends ππππ₯³πππ
Today at Minnies we had a special pamper day. We started the day with a delicious hot chocolate (thank you Kura)! Then nga tamariki had a bubble bath foot spa, followed by back massage. Hopefully they will be so relaxed they should sleep well tonight!
Today for totara time we learnt about the life cycle of the ladybug. We learnt that first the eggs are laid, the eggs develop into larva, then pupa then finally develops into an adult. Tamariki cut out each individual picture then pasted them in correct order in their workbooks.
We had lots lots of fun during the Moving with Minnies session today playing parachute games. Parachute games are high energy and provide a great upper body workout. The children had lots of rhythm, balance and coordination. They also used their imagination to make popping popcorn πΏ. Then we played some blindfolded games and a game of duck duck goose.
Happy 3rd Birthday Ivaan!

This week for kaitiaki club we planted some wild flower seed bombs we made a couple of months ago. We are hoping that the flowers will attract bees and other pollinators to the vegetable garden and help to pollinate the strawberries for a bumper crop this summer.
Keep an eye out in our little garden for some beautiful flowers popping up in the next couple of months.
πΌπΌπΌ Spring is just around the corner with warmer weather and spring flowers. NgΔ tamariki have been creating beautiful daffodil art work creations. Check out the beautiful artwork display on the wall at Minnies πΌπΌπΌ

Today for totara time we continued learning about insects and the weather. We learnt which insects prefer sun: caterpillars, bees, flies, butterflies and ladybugs. And which insects prefer the rain: beetles mosquitoes and ants.
Today's Moving with Minnies session involved completing an obstacle course while being blindfolded. The children used their communication, problem solving and listening skills and demonstrated lots of teamwork while they supported their partner to complete the course. I was super impressed how you all showed confidence, bravery and supported and encouraged your partners to complete the course.
Happy 5th birthday Margot!!!!! We hope you enjoyed your special mst time celebration. Thank you too for the lovely cake and special treats. Lots of love from your friends and kaiako at Minnieβs.
Happy school days Vihaan! Your friends and kaiako at Minnieβs wish you all the very best for this very exciting and new part of your learning journey. And thank you very much to you and your mum and dad for the lovely treats! We will miss you very much!
Today for Kaitiaki club we experimented by making our own butter!
It was very exciting to mix cream and a little bit of salt in a bowl with a mixer, and watch it turn from liquid to cream then back to a mushy liquid again, before it all clumped together and we were left with a lump of butter and some buttermilk. Lydia gave it a quick rinse in some cold water and then we wrapped it up in some parchment paper and put it in the fridge to have with some yummy scones Kura is making for afternoon tea!
It is a really fun activity to try and I would highly recommend giving it a go at home!
