― Wassily Kandinsky A community gallery run by members open 7 days 10.00am to 4.00pm apart from Public Holidays.

Exhibiting paintings by 30+ members changed monthly with a monthly exhibition by a member or a guest artist. The gallery offers space to community groups and runs art classes for both children and adults.

New works by Renee Prescott, Marty Rowe, Julie Bartlett, and Kath Lafferty.
Kath's painting acknowledges the homeless people who have died in Christchurch in recent months. Kath is donating all proceeds from the sale of this painting to charity.

The time and place for the AGM of the brighton gallery is Sunday, the 20th of September at 4.30 in the meeting room in the Village green. access is from the car park behind the little huts.
the meeting room is the larger end hut by the gallery room.

The agm is a requirement for the trust. Not compulsory to attend. It's so people can peruse last year's financial report and make suggestions for the trust's future.

Hey wonderful people Herbie here. As Petie (Lily) wanted, we have a short and pragmatic funeral thing on TUESDAY the 01/09/26, 10am at 2 Kerrs Road Linwood Christchurch. Do not feel obliged or guilty if you don't come. Lily would be mad with you. 😘😘 I will organize, another day, a little 'Get Together' to celebrate, with bring plate, Lily's wonderful life and her creations.

New Brighton is undergoing it's current attempt at revitalisation- unfortunately making things a bit tricky for the businesses in the area for the next few months.

The brighton gallery pop up will be in The Palms (old TYPO shop) for 4 weeks starting the 14th September.
We will be continuing our free artmaking workshops
Gelli printing, watercolours and possibly mosaics.

we are in the Village Green in New Brighton this week. the weather has been bitter so far, so rug up before venturing into New Brighton.
So far we have been POPping UP in the white gallery room, but this week we are trying out one of the double huts for size.

Bit smaller than the Gallery room, but we managed to cram (nicely display) some beautiful original art pieces in there, including this stunning sculpture by Jim Parker. Jim references the Cubist and Dada movements, with undertones of surrealism. A snip at $150, reduced from a cool 2 mill $!

We will be in The palms in September/October for 4 weeks, while the council digs up the pedestrian area outside the village green and hopefully puts it back again sometime in November.

Once the footpath is once again safe, hopefully December/late November, we will be back in the Village Green Gallery room for at least 8 weeks thanks to a Strengthening Communities grant from the council.

the gallery is in The Village Green for a week in August, 10th to the 16th. We will be in a double hut (5 and 6). the Village Green gallery room (where we have been setting up previously) is booked by The Children's Bookshop from the 10th to the 24th.
Teh pedestrian area is due to be dug up in the following week. work is expected to last until mid to late November.

We are in The Palms for 4 weeks starting the 14th of September to the 15th October. we will be in the old TYPO shop. the one we were in previously has a new occupant.

the Pirates were seen in New Brighton again today, where they were heavily outnumbered by a gathering of little landlubbers. Discretion being the better part of valour, they withdrew to appear another day. Informants tell us they will be back at the pop-up exhibition tomorrow at 11AM in the Village Green.
