Kia ora whÄnau,
**Live stream of Miss Waho's assembly today, 2pm here on this page**
As we prepare the farewell assembly for Miss Waho today, we would like to share a few notes with you all.
The assembly will start promptly at 2pm, so we ask everyone to please be seated by 1.45pm. Please do not sit in the reserved seating.
This will be held in the school hall, due to the unpredictable elements of Mother Nature.
With the size of the hall, we are unable to seat everyone who is likely to want to attend, so we will be setting up one of our junior classes and live-streaming this on Facebook via this school page. (This will be on a tripod, not a moved-around version, so you may not see everything, but you will see the important parts)
Because we are live-streaming this, it means you can tune in if you are unable to come along or would prefer to stay away from the crowds.
Those with children in the junior classes who are staying, you are welcome to sit with your child in the junior class and watch the live stream. We ask that these students are not seated in the school hall, please.
We appreciate those that have made arrangements for their child to go home slightly earlier, so the majority of our staff can attend the assembly.
We appreciate your support in making this event run as smoothly as possible.
From the Gilberthorpe Staff.

Our third and final day of camp was another great one. After we had cleaned up, we had a bit of time to enjoy the camp space and some of us went for a bush walk.
Our main activity was archery tag, which is often a favorite.
We finished our time in an outdoor amphitheatre sharing about what we enjoyed.
We are so proud of all of the kids because they gave everything a go and had some very lovely moments.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making camp possible.
Not as many photos today, but I will share a folder with families soon.

Day two of Year 6 Camp has been great. We started with a zip line, mono rail, gaga dodge ball, mini golf and volleyball.
Some impressive determination and resilience was shown during our tree climbing and mountain boarding.
After a nacho lunch, we played an animal survival game. Mrs Park came to visit and brought us all iceblocks, which were perfect for cooling us down.
Burgers for dinner went down well and after a bit of chill time, we headed to the pool for an evening swim.
Once darkness fell, we had a game of spotlight light, which was a first for some of us.
We are looking forward to playing archery tag tomorrow before we head back to home sweet home.
Once again, the staff at Living Springs have been amazing and so helpful and cool. Our team of adult helpers have been outstanding and have made our camp experience enjoyable, cruisey and fun. Thank you all. X

Kia ora WhÄnau,
We have just had confirmation from the Testing Lab that all test results were negative for Asbestos. This is great news.
School will be reopened tomorrow, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back.
I want to acknowledge that this has been a difficult time and has caused inconveniences; however, the health and safety of students and staff remain our Board of Trustees' top priority. I thank you for your support and understanding over the last few days.
NgÄ mihi

Our Year 6 students are tucked up in bed after a great first day of Year 6 Camp. They coped so well with the up hill walk to Living Springs Camp.
We started with orienteering, a swim and an evening Camp fire.
This is just a small selection of our photos, and I apologise if I haven't shared photos of all of our students.
I'll do another update for Day 2 as we go on a zipline, tree climbing, mountain boarding and a bush walk.
PÅmarie...good night.
Miss Waho.

**School closure - Tuesday 18th November**
Kia Ora WhÄnau,
First and foremost, I want to thank our community for your understanding and support regarding the sudden closure of Gilberthorpe School.
This afternoon, we are conducting school-wide testing, and we expect to have the results by tomorrow at the latest. However, we have been advised that the school will need to remain closed tomorrow due to contamination concerns, based on guidance from our testing contractors.
Please make childcare arrangements for your children for tomorrow. Should the results indicate that there is no contamination, we will inform you as soon as possible about the reopening day/plan for the school.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority.
