Ever wondered what Cellfield looks like? This is one part of the programme called 'Mosaic' that requires the client to match a coloured block pattern from one grid to the other by moving blocks across from the patterned to the empty grid. This is all while a timer is counting down. What is the science behind this? In an efficient reader's brain left-right processing occurs quickly and naturally when reading across a page of text. Mosaic trains the brain to process faster in a left-right manner. During a Cellfield session this activity occurs several times as it is also a way of creating some novelty between the more intense phonological sections of work. Everything in the Cellfield programme is based on science of reading and makes lasting changes to neural pathways, improving reading and propelling students ahead. It's been a privilege to take three young ladies through Cellfield in the last few months. Fleur and Evanne in the January holidays and Maddy in the April holidays. All have done exceptionally well and have made reading progress 1-2 years or more over the week they have come for sessions. Weekly tuition is beneficial, but the Cellfield intervention is next level. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next few months brings for these ladies and how this will impact their school learning.
