One last name suggestion for Mr Emperor Penguin 🐧 McKenzie - In honor of Sir John Robert McKenzie (which if you have been in our lovely little library, you would have seen his name etched into the wall by the main doors).
The McKenzie family trust have a long history in helping so many charities and different organisations throughout New Zealand, and one of their many goals was to help children. Our wonderful little library was originally a children's book library, and I am proud to say, that there are still books from that time here with us for children to still enjoy ♥ Just today I spoke to an adult who said that they used to come into the library with their Mum to borrow the books, I meet many people who have very fond memories of the children's book library. I love hearing all the stories, and knowing that we have kept it going, that the history and all the memories are being kept alive and are still being honoured. It is because of this great man's legacy that we are able to offer this service to our community, to our city, and to continue to help as many children as we can to find their joy through play for many more years to come.
I personally think that McKenzie is a perfect name, it has true heart and an incredible story to go with it, but I am not the one choosing the name, so please speak up, let me know what you think and if you have any other suggestions. The decision will be made this Wednesday based on the feedback that has been received.
