JSoc UC The Japanese Culture Club at University of Canterbury, New Zealand Many of our members speak and/or are learning Japanese. JSoc would love to have you join us.

Japan Society (JSoc) is a community brought together by our shared interests in Japanese culture and language. We hold events that celebrate aspects of Japanese culture in a way that is accessible to both domestic and international students here at UC, as well as to the wider community in Christchurch. Our events include weekly language exchanges that have a relaxed, social atmosphere, as well as one larger event each month. We also collaborate with other clubs at UC who share similar interests to hold events that connect our members.

📅 August 18th 3-4pm

Topic: Henk will present his research, which is on how the Dutch language became the language of science in Japan during the Edo period.

It will be mainly in English, however he can also translate or provide explanations in Japanese

This will take place during our study group with 4-5pm being reserved for usual study.
