Gateway Antarctica is the Centre for Antarctic Studies & Research at the University of Canterbury.

Gateway Antarctica is the centre for Antarctic studies and research at the University of Canterbury. Gateway Antarctica plays a leading role in the quest for knowledge in a diverse range of national and international Antarctic research projects. This includes areas such as engineering in extreme environments, Antarctica as driver of (and responder to) climate change, connections between Antarctica and New Zealand, and human influences in and on Antarctica.

Edward Wilson died in the Antarctic with Captain Robert Falcon Scott. But his art lives on.

Come and see Canterbury Museum Curator Human History Adele Jackson explore the fascinating life of Dr Edward Adrian Wilson at a special talk on Tuesday. Wilson was a physician, naturalist and artist with Scott's ‘Discovery’ and ‘Terra Nova’ expeditions. He died with Scott on the return journey from the South Pole in 1912. In the talk, Adele will chart Wilson's life through his drawings and paintings held in the Museum collection. A Friends of the Canterbury Museum talk.
