Networking component of the NZAPT The New Zealand Association for Philosophy Teaching (NZAPT) has been set up with the following goals:

1.

First and foremost, to develop Philosophy as a subject taught in NZ Secondary schools

2. To provide training and resources to teachers interested in teaching Philosophy

3. To encourage staff and students to engage in philosophical discussion in all classrooms

4. To liaise with tertiary providers who teach Philosophy

A busy week in the House as usual, but I had a break this morning speaking to the NZ Association of Philosophy Teachers. I talked about my own background learning about and teaching philosophy in schools, and about our need as a nation for people who have creative and critical thinking skills something that can be learned by doing philosophy. I would like many more children to be able to engage in philosophy in schools.
