Volleyball legends and local lass on a winning streak The only South Island leg of the NZ Beach Tour is set to be a “big deal”, featuring a four-time Olympian and gold medallist and a local hero aspiring to be the next big name.

AVSC finals here we come! Smashed the semi final
this morning against Craigslea 3-0 with a 23-25 second set. Yesterday’s quarter final was a similar result 3-0 against McKinnon.
Bring on Brighton at 3pm Aussie time.

Good start to the Australian school cup yesterday with two 3 0 wins. Good tight tough games with our last one finishing at 1120 last night. Two more today we will keep you updated. Live streaming is not allowed at the venue so I will do a better job of putting updates here!! Thanks for your support from back home.

‼️Beach IPC 2022‼️

Beach Volleyball enthusiasts would be forgiven for believing that the Vesty/Holdem duo of Rosa and Taylah from Canterbury were mistakenly in the boys draw for the VNZ IPC champs.

But this is a family affair with little brothers Thomas and Flynn participating in the U17 Boys grade.

The Burnside girls duo come in as reigning secondary school beach champs and were also members of the Burnside High side who won the New Zealand secondary schools indoor volleyball champs last year.

This is the boys first major tournament and beach volleyball seems to suit their style, with just getting on with the next point when things don’t quite go right.

At home, there’s a Vesty/Holdem volleyball challenge, but we’re not really at liberty to declare the current score in that!

It seems that knowing each team can challenge the other and learn from them makes for even more success in backyard volleyball games.

The event at Mount Maunganui sees 62 teams representing their province from as far south as Canterbury across to Hawkes Bay and up to Northland participating to find the Volleyball NZ national age group champions.
