Based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and the Broadway musical that played for over 2,500 performances and received multiple Olivier and Tony Awards nominations, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect Broadway Junior musical!
The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”
Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR. is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs and breathtaking dance numbers. This show is a perfect opportunity to showcase a strong, iconic female performer, as well as unique special effects and illusions.

A Night of Pure Magic at The Theatre Royal
Last night we also had the pleasure of attending the New Zealand premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal, and what a spectacular production it was.
A huge congratulations to our incredible students, Sophie James and Isla Palmer. Watching you both perform with such confidence, presence, and joy was something truly special. You represented yourselves, your families, and our studio with pride, and you absolutely shone on that stage.
We are so incredibly proud of you both and all the work you continue to put in.
What made the night even more special for us was seeing so many familiar faces from our JKPA whānau both onstage and behind the scenes.
The stage was alive with vibrant, colourful costumes, incredible musical moments, and seamless staging and direction. A true celebration of creativity and storytelling, and a production that left the audience completely captivated.
Wishing you the best of luck for the rest of the season, keep shining, keep growing, and keep making magic.

We feel incredibly proud, lucky, and genuinely grateful to welcome back Brad Green from Sydney, returning to Christchurch for his 7th year as one of our International Troupe Choreographers.
Brad travels a long way to be here, and we never take that for granted. His commitment to our dancers and our programme is something we deeply appreciate.
The creative space Brad brings is always fun, focused, and encouraging — a place where dancers feel challenged, supported, and inspired. He offers our students a real and current insight into the Sydney commercial dance scene, bridging training with industry relevance in the best way possible.
We’re so thankful to have you back with us again, Brad. Our dancers are better for it.
