South New Brighton School

At today’s Whānau Hui, we celebrated our tamariki for their incredible mahi by presenting the school's tikanga certificates.

It was a wonderful showcase of talent and achievement across the kura. Maths certificates were awarded to students showing fantastic progress in problem solving and skill development. Senior Honours were earned by several Wave Rider students for their commitment to extra work. Last but not least, sports badges were presented to those who represented SNBS at various sporting events. Ka pai!

Then our ukulele group teamed up with the recorder players for an outstanding musical performance. We finished our hui with the Matariki macarena!

The school band had the pleasure of meeting the legendary Shapeshifter today on their NZ tour.

They got to enjoy the soundcheck, get a few photos and autographs with the band, and see what it's like to play at one of Christchurch's best venues.

A great inspiration for our own budding musicians.

Football fever has hit South New Brighton School!

This week we have kicked off in style with football games on the back field, including fun games for Manaia and Kuaka and a World Cup tournament for the Legends and Wave Riders.

Each class has a couple of countries pulled from the hat to cheer on, and this afternoon we gathered to cheer on the All Whites in the school hall.

It has been a great start to the World Cup for everyone.

Today, we celebrated our amazing tamariki for striving to be "the best they can be" as they received their well-earned Tikanga certificates, and Senior Honours Awards and badges.

We also presented sports awards to our talented gymnasts, who put in a strong performance at QEII on Wednesday - well done! Additionally, we congratulated our EPro8 school winners and wished them the best of luck as they prepare to represent our kura in the upcoming challenge.

Finally, we gave a warm welcome to our newest students, who were introduced to the school community. It was delightful to hear about their favorite colors (purple is a hit!), their diverse food preferences - ranging from fast food to broccoli and crunchy carrots - and their wonderful aspirations, which included becoming police officers, wizards, gold miners, fairies, and even unicorns!
