Team Mānuka parents and caregiver

Swimming lessons have been going very well after 5 days. All are enjoying themselves and showing more confidence already.

Tomorrow's lesson focus is being in the water with clothes, so students have been asked to wear pyjamas, onesies or just some spare long sleeve shirt and pants. Please remember swimwear and normal clothes to change back in.

Thank you,

Team Mānuka.

Today was our final day for 2024. As per tradition, our Year 8 Leavers walked through a whole School Guard of Honour and assembled under the walnut tree for their final farewell.

We wish all those leaving Christchurch East School this year all the best. Have a safe and happy holiday.

Yesterday we held our Final Assemblies for 2024. They looked a little different this year due to our hall being made into classrooms.

Every hub held their own assembly to celebrate the students, their wide range of achievements and the school year. It was also a special time to come together to farewell our Year 8’s as they move into their next educational chapter.

Here is a snippet of the day, stay tuned for more photos in tomorrow’s final newsletter!

The school edible garden is coming along nicely. Today a group of seniors got out there and harvested a bumper crop of silverbeet for another giveaway at the gate. The beans, sunflowers and pumpkins are starting to take off too.

Over the past two weeks we’ve had groups of Team Kauri students out in the school vegetable garden prepping the raised garden beds and planting. We have just put in a selection of leafy greens, parsley, green beans, sunflowers and pumpkin. It’s great to see students outside learning some practical skills about gardening as well as enjoying themselves. Keep an eye out later on in the term for more veggie giveaways at the gate.
