The Papanui High School House Competition is now in its fourth year since being re-developed.

Every student is assigned to one of four Houses on entry to the school. Houses compete throughout the year for seven Shields. The Shields are:

Sports Shield (Touch and Benchball)
Arts Shield (a week long event)
Athletics Shield
Cross Country Shield
Aquatic Shield (Swimming Sports and Aquatic Week)
Community Shield
Junior Activity Day (held in December)
