Batten Team Climate Action Campus Trip

Our students had a fantastic time exploring the vast grounds of the Climate Action Campus today on a beautiful, sunny spring day! They rolled up their sleeves to plant trees and harvest fresh produce for the local food pantry. Highlights of the day included meeting an adorable new lamb named Monday, enjoying lively games of Gaga dodgeball, and discovering all the amazing projects around the campus.

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful parent helpers who gave up their time to support us—we couldn't have done it without you. A great day of learning and fun was had by all!

The Hillary Team was incredible fortunate today to have a very engaging and informative session with Maki our Enviroschools Facilitator, learning about Biodiversity, Pest Monitoring and Ecosystems. Nice work Hillary Team 👍👍👍

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your donations for our 'Helping our neighbour - The Carmelites' initiative. 🙏🙏🙏 Sister Lauren was thrilled and we LOVED listening to her and asking her questions! HUGE thanks to Mrs Grant and the Young Vinnie's Leaders for your inspiration and organisation and to Mr Thompson for your IT skills in setting up Zoom meeting so everyone was able to watch her presentation.

Robbie's at Lichfield Courtyard have donated a $50 voucher for our lucky 1st place winner to use pre-show!

1st Prize = 2 A reserve Foo Fighter tickets and $50 Robbie's voucher (valued at over $550)
2nd Prize = $300 Prezzi Card (Thank You Hutching's Family)
3rd Prize = Family Tram and Gondola Pass valued at over $200 (Thank You Christchurch Attractions)

Tickets are due back in the office on Monday 21st September for our draw on Thursday 24th September.
Extra tickets can be collected from the office.

What a magnificent day we had on Friday for our 'Book Character Day' We were simply blown away by the AMAZING costumes from such a HUGE variety of New Zealand books/authors! To our wonderful Mrs Morgan and her team of librarians ... thank you for organising and running such a fabulous Book Week - we can't wait until the next one 📚📖📕📗📚📚.

🏃‍♂️🚴‍♀️ OLA Duathlon Stars Shine at Ruapuna! 🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A massive shout-out to our incredible OLA students who took on the Primary Canterbury Sports Duathlon yesterday at Ruapuna Racetrack!
The morning kicked off with a brisk 6-degree chill, but our athletes brought the heat the second the run-bike-run started. It was fantastic to see every single competitor give 110% out on the track.
What made the day even more special was the spirit off the track—when our students weren't racing, they were cheering loudly, supporting one another, and living out our school values every step of the way.
We couldn't be prouder of your grit, teamwork, and sportsmanship. What a fantastic day to be part of the OLA community!

This morning was a very special occasion where we came together as a school to officially open our flagpole. Our senior students led us in our ceremony which was organised by Mrs Grant, and Isaia and Charlie raised the New Zealand flag for the very first time as we sang the National Anthem. HUGE thanks to one of our parents, Johnny Hutchison, for all your hard work installing our flagpole and to Mr Ward for the inspiration and research to get this project completed! Keep an eye out for the flags of the different cultures within our school which are going to be flown on our flagpole at various times through the year.
