πββοΈπ¨ MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR OLA RUNNERS! π¨πββοΈ
Yesterday, 16 students represented OLA at the Canterbury Cross Country. Simply reaching this level of competition is a huge achievement!
We are incredibly proud of every student who ran. You all gave 100% and beautifully demonstrated our school values, both pushing hard on the course and cheering loudly from the sidelines. ππ

On Friday 26 June we are going to be having a casual clothes day at OLA. The payment for this is going to be items to help the Carmelite nuns. We have broken this down into teams:
Rutherford - canned vegetables
Sheppard - canned fruit
Batten - canned fish, pasta and rice
Hillary - toiletries
These can be brought into the school office on Friday morning. Thank you so much for supporting our wonderful Carmelite neighbours πππ

We are INCREDIBLY lucky to have the support and sponsorship from many local businesses and attractions. Without them, we wouldn't have the AMAZING prizes for our current 2026 raffle. Thank you to you all. πππ

And that's Week 8 done (Teacher Only Day tomorrow π). Juan, Theo and Joswin beautifully led our assembly this afternoon - today it was SUPER special as the Percussion group and Junior Choir, under the guidance of our wonderful Music Teacher Mrs Murray, performed for us. We also celebrated the learning achievements of Jemima, Harvey, Oscar, Eliza, Alistaire, Benny, Mackenzie, Mateo, Alex, Edwin (Rutherford Team); Heyzal, Beauden, Valentina, Paige, Angus, Olivia (Sheppard Team); Caleb, Ruby, Ronan (Batten Team); Ihaia, Rose, Isla, Ryan, Juan, Savannah and Angus (Hillary Team). Today our Year 7 students, along with Year 7 students from Sacred Heart School, attended a CSYMI retreat at Sacred Heart School. The retreat was led by Hannah, an AMAZING CSYMI leader, along with student leaders from St Thomas of Canterbury and Catholic Cathedral Colleges. It was a wonderful retreat, filled with so much laughter, fun and prayer.
Catholic Schools Youth Ministry International (CSYMI) is a new initiative designed for upper primary schools, which aims to deepen the faith of students through a four-phase process, so watch this space in the future as this programme takes shape at our school!

Yet again beautiful OLA community - you have blown us away with your generosity! Your donations of warm coats and jackets were received so gratefully this morning by St Vincent de Paul, who were overwhelmed by the amount of donations! Thank you, thank you, thank you and a special thank you to Mrs Grant for organising this wonderful initiative. Have a wonderful weekend πππ

The Sheppard Team were very lucky to have some first aid training from Hato Hone St John today. They got to learn about the recovery position, discuss simple first aid they may come across on the playground and even got to practice using a bandage!! Great work Sheppard Team!

It's Winter Woollies time! Do you have any coats/jackets in great reusable condition to give to SVdP? On Friday, children can wear any coat/jacket/polar fleece (of any colour!) and, in turn, donate a coat/jacket/polar fleece. These donations can be brought to PΔ«wakawaka anytime up to June 5. Thank you so much for your support. π§₯π§₯π§₯

Our school assembly this afternoon was, without doubt, one of the best ever! After Mr Malone had talked to us about St Carlos Acutis' words that 'people are born as originals, but many die as photocopies', he encouraged us all to be originals and not be afraid to share our talents. We were all totally in awe of Kiah who shared her singing talent with us all! Kiah, you are inspirational!! HUGE congratulations also to (back row) Paulwin, Willow, Joshua, Charlie, Esther, (front row) Gideon, Rocca, Tomas, Amelia (Rutherford Team); Connor, Aditi, Oscar, Declan, Mason, Kobe (Sheppard Team); Sienna, Kiah, Sailor, Zachary, Nathaniel, Mae (Batten Team); and Joswin, Steven, Mayme-Lola, Vivienne, Violet, Ellies and Elle (Hillary Team) on receiving Principal Awards today. Thank you especially to Sophie, Mayme-Lola and Harper who led our assembly. Happy King's Birthday weekend everyone! See you on Tuesday πππ

πββοΈ What a Day at the Cross Country! πββοΈ
We are incredibly proud of all our Our Lady of the Assumption students who laced up their sneakers and represented us today. Every single runner gave it their absolute all, showing fantastic sportsmanship, determination, and OLA spirit!
A massive congratulations to the many students who placed in the top 12 for their age groups! This is a huge achievement, and it means they have officially qualified for the next round: the Primary Sports Canterbury Cross Country Championship this coming June! π΄β«
A special shout-out to all our supporters, parents, and teachers who cheered from the sidelinesβyour energy kept our runners moving!
