A message from 'Sensory Swimming', Christchurch City Council:

Sensory Swimming is held at Pioneer Recreation & Sports Centre on Saturday afternoons 2pm – 4pm.

Sensory Swimming is an opportunity for people who find entering a main swimming space over whelming, unpredictable and stressful with the amount of noise, etc.

The Teach Pool at Pioneer is an enclosed space, the blinds are pulled, no music is played, there are changing facilities within the pool space and some sensory toys in the pool.

This is a bookable space to keep numbers small. The details on how to book are on the flyer, all the discounts apply and no charge for any accompanying adults.

Save the Date!!!

Meri Kirihimete Whānau!
We hope you have a wonderful festive season and summer break.

See you in 2024!
(Term 1 starts Wed 31st Jan)

Due to the terrible weather and needing to keep people safe, we need to cancel assembly today. We will look at another possible date if we can find one. Sorry everyone, safety is most important.

We had a wonderful Whānau, Food & Fun event yesterday!
It was great to see so many ākonga, whānau/caregivers and friends come along to enjoy a performance by Ferndale Te Ahu Kapa Haka, face-painting, the photobooth, pizza, ice-blocks, the raffle, Santa and so much more! It was also great to see people connecting with each other and having lots of fun.
Well done to everyone involved and thank you all for coming along!

We have our fingers crossed for good weather tomorrow - the Whānau Food & Fun Evening is going ahead!
5-7pm Thursday 7th Dec, Base School
See you then!

(due to the predicted weather this week)

The Students/Ākonga at Tētēkura are running a Christmas Market, 11am-1pm on the 14th December. Feel free to bring some cash to purchase some goodies for Christmas! (eftpos not available)

Congratulations to our 'Sew Much Fun' team who last night were presented with TWO awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements whilst participating in the 'YES' programme. Our amazing ākonga received one award for being one of the five regional finalists. They also received the 'Spirit of Yes' award. Ka mau te wehi!

The Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) is an experiential programme designed for year 12-13 students in New Zealand, and provides them the opportunity to set up and run their own business. Jonny, Asa, Chandra and Jesse from Tētēkura, collaborated as a team and competed against secondary school students from across New Zealand to create, launch and run their business, Sew Much Fun. Throughout the year, the team completed four challenges, including a Pitch where they had to present their business idea, target market, production and finance information to a team of business professionals from Canterbury. The team was successful in making it to the Regional Finals, based on their challenge marks. Yesterday they delivered a new Pitch to a panel of business professionals, competing against the top 5 YES teams from Canterbury for a place in the National Finals. The Young Enterprise Scheme equipped our young people with versatile skills and experiences that will enable them to succeed in this dynamic, ever-changing environment.

They completed their pitch today, in front of six judges from the business world, as one of five finalists for the region!!!

How exciting... they have been invited to the Award Ceremony this evening (more info to come tomorrow)!
