Our pēpi have been busy discovering the beauty of our heuristic basket, filled with natural and everyday materials that invite curiosity, exploration and sensory discovery 🤎🌿

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, we believe children construct their own understanding of the world through hands-on experiences. We provide open-ended materials that encourage our youngest learners to investigate, experiment and make their own discoveries at their own pace.

Every touch, shake, grasp and exploration is building confidence and nurturing a lifelong love of learning 🌼

🌈 Exploring colour, texture, and creativity through sensory play. Our pēpi were invited to investigate, swirl, scoop, and discover as they expressed their ideas through open-ended exploration. ✨

Hōtoke | Winter ❄️

As the seasons change, we have been exploring Hōtoke (Winter) through a variety of hands-on experiences and provocations in our nursery room.

From creating patterns and designs with loose parts, to making marks in salt with snowflakes and brushes, and decorating our own snowflakes, these experiences encourage creativity, exploration, and early literacy while connecting children to the world around them.

Our winter wall display and learning invitations provide opportunities for tamariki to wonder, discover, and engage with the sights, textures, and ideas that winter brings.

A look back at some of our Wāna Rūma table setups from the past month 💛

Each setup is carefully planned to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and support our children's learning and development through play. We love creating inviting spaces that inspire little minds to discover, create, and grow every day.

This week we have been celebrating Samoan Language Week through art, culture, language, and meaningful conversations with our tamariki. From creating beautiful frangipani flowers to exploring new words and colours in gagana Samoa, it has been so special to embrace and celebrate the richness of Samoan culture together. 🌺🇼🇸

In te rūma Kōtuku, we are on an amazing journey of discovery and learning, looking at different plants and finding out what they need to grow, using magnifying glasses to get a close up appreciation for nature!

We have introduced herbs, citrus fruits, strawberries and catcus - and while having a kōrero around pollonation and bees, we were lucky enough to find a dead bumblebee that we could have a much closer look at! Our little scientists are thriving in small learning groups, using creative art to express emerging working theories! 🌱 🔬
