2023 Student Council Application
Do you like to help people? Are you interested in growing your leadership potential? Do you like Ara? If yes, then the Student Council will be for you!
We are looking for our next group of students that will be leading the charge for our 2023 Student Voice! We are looking for a diverse range of people that are passionate, eager and interested in making positive change across the Ara campuses. We are looking for ALL positions to be filled.
These positions are:
- Chairperson: who will be responsible for leading the Council and being their primary coordinator
- Vice-Chair: who will be a support person for the Chair and helping facilitate the Council business
- Secretary: who will be responsible for the administrating and keeping the Council well-documented
- Māori Rep: who will be responsible for representing the Māori student voice and supporting the student community
- Pacific Rep: who will be responsible for representing the Pacific Island student voice and supporting the student community
- Disability Rep: who will be responsible for representing the disabled student voice and supporting the student community
- International Rep: who will be responsible for representing the International student voice and supporting the student community
- Wellbeing & Equity Rep: who will be advocating for the enhancement of wellbeing-focussed and equitable supports
- Southern Campus Rep: who will be responsible for advocating on behalf of Ara's Southern Campuses
- Woolston Campus Rep: who will be responsible for advocating on behalf of Ara's Woolston Campus
- Manawa Campus Rep: who will be responsible for advocating on behalf of Ara's Manawa Campus
Applications will be open from Monday 7th November to Wednesday 30th November and successful applicants will be called for interviews with some of the current Student Council and the Student Voice Advisor (Ari). If you have any questions about this process, feel free to contact [email protected].

The Southeast Asia Centre of Asia Pacific Excellence has launched their first domestic mobility programme of 2021.
The Tertiary Market Immersion Programme (TMIP) will see Tertiary students from Universities around the country immerse themselves in the Food & Beverage industry. Students will visit companies in regional New Zealand and take part in webinars with New Zealand and Singaporean trade agencies. In 2021 TMIP will focus on the value of Singapore as an export destination and F&B organisations engaging with Singapore. Stay tuned for more information on the organisation involved as they’re confirmed. This will be a wonderful opportunity for any students interested in business, food science, and health and wellbeing products.
This is a fully funded (including flights, accommodation & meals) programme open to NZ students from Universities, Polytechnics and Wananga across Aotearoa.
There are only 20 spots available, if you may be interested or would benefit from a programme like this, we ask you to encourage them to apply.
