We had a great visit by the Christchurch City Council library van last Friday. Wendy will be bringing the van to school every third Friday, where she visits each class to read a story and then the class gets a chance to visit the van and borrow books. The van is also open for everyone before school and break times. Your child will need a library card to borrow books. If you need a form, then please let your child’s class teacher know and they can provide one.

Due to the new information about the Kmart kinetic sand possibly containing asbestos, Bishopdale School will remain open tomorrow, however, Kōwhai will work in the library while the issue is being sorted.

Bishopdale School was lucky enough to have Xavier Breed come and talk to us as part of the Duffy Books Role Model Assembly. We got to hear about why reading is so important, along with playing a few games to make it memorable. At the end, Xavier presented one child from each class with their Duffy books. The rest received theirs in class.

Today we had our official opening of our new basketball hoops. We had some players from the Mainland Pouākai woman's basketball team talk to us and then we had a bit of fun outside shooting hoops. We may even have some future basketball players at Bishopdale School!

Yesterday we were lucky to enjoy a visit from the Court Theatre who performed the show "Nuku and Vai". It was a great show and the audience participation was awesome! Thanks Court Theatre!
Our Bishopdale School dance group performed this afternoon at Cotswold School in the Movement Dance Festival. There were different dance groups from Casebrook Intermediate, Cotswold School, Papanui Primary, and of course Bishopdale School. They did a terrific job and represented our school amazingly! We were all very proud!

Check out what Tī Kōuka got for winning first place across all schools competing in the Wednesday Challenge!
The Wednesday Challenge encourages students and teachers to bus, bike, walk, run, scooter or mode share their way to school. It’s our way of reducing road congestion and carbon emissions, reducing school gate congestion and encouraging better health and well-being.

Red Nose Day is on Friday. To celebrate we are dressing in red on that day and we have a “Guess the amount of lollies in the jar” in the office. The winner will win the lollies!!! Guesses cost $1 each in the office, any day this week, and you can guess as many times as you like. The money raised will be going to Cure Kids.
Here is one of our senior students sharing our whakataukī o te wā!
