Formula One fans, there's three new books for you today that have just arrived at the library. Zac Brown's book looks at what makes a leader, and what it takes to succeed in a sport that is constantly pushing the boundaries. The other two are part of the popular Racing Legends series, which are super quick to read and give short biographies of racing stars. They are fully illustrated and give lots of facts about F1 as well.

Don't forget to count your reads towards the house points reading road competition - McCarthy still has a huge lead!

Hello all! The house points reading road competition is now up and running. You can earn points for your house for every book you read - all you need to do is come in to the library (or email me) and tell me the title of the book you have read and what house you are in. A lovely new stack of books has arrived in time for the weekend - this stack is predominantly manga. Manga is heavily borrowed, and we have just received the first book in a bunch of new series. If they are popular we will get more, so come in, borrow one, and see what you think. The new Neal Shusterman is also here. It's a short story compilation and a few of the stories are set in the world of Scythe. There's also a couple of non-fiction sports books, and a new adventure/mystery called Shadow Thieves, which looks great. Happy reading!

Skulduggery Pleasant is a hugely successful and popular fantasy/horror/mystery series with a good dose of humour too. These three books make up a trilogy that is connected to the main series, and we have just received the final book, so its a great time to read them all together. Highly recommended - if you haven't met this skeleton detective and his magician sidekick yet, what are you waiting for?

If you are a thriller reader, here are four new arrivals to kick off the weekend! Kill Creatures focusses on the strange reappearance of a girl presumed dead, whereas The Escape Room is set around a reality TV show where somebody was mysteriously murdered. To the Death sees contestants struggle against the undead for the entertainment of the public, and Deep Water is a quick read set on a cruise ship where a sinister program is making bullies confront their deepest fears. All are available for borrowing now and provide great escapist reading!

If you find yourself short on reading time, there are plenty of quick and easy reads at the Library of St Bede, and here are two of the latest. These two comedies are in the style of the Wimpy Kid books, with plenty of pictures, different fonts, and very high entertainment value. Sometimes we all just need a comfort read, and there's nothing wrong with that. Books like this provide a chance to escape from the pressures of life for a bit, and that's always a good thing. Both of these are on the shelves and ready to borrow now!

Hello, all... calling graphic novel fans this morning! Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles have been adapted into graphic novel format, and the first two books have arrived. They are absolute beauties - glossy, full colour versions - and they are a great way to experience the series in a whole new way. We also have some of the Percy Jackson series in a graphic format.

If you loved the Wimpy kid series (which is still going strong, we have the full set here at the library) you might also like to check out this series by Jeff Kinney, Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid. They feature Greg's friend Rowley, and follow exactly the same format as the Wimpy Kid books - lots of illustrations and humour and loads of fun... available now!
