Hello, all, hope you have settled in well and are ready for another great year at St Bede's. The year has started well at the library with some exciting book deliveries, so don't forget to come in and check out what's new. You can take out up to five books at a time, and there is something for everybody, no matter what your tastes are. We also acquired a few new games late last year, which you are very welcome to come and play at lunchtime. Hope to see you soon!

Hello, all... it's the last chance to come and grab some books for the long holiday break, and below are a few new ones that would be great for hunting and fishing fans. Sam the Trap Man is brand new and is getting lots of publicity - he sounds like such an interesting guy! Don't forget you can keep books for the entire holiday break. Hello, all! Now exams are over, you are free to come back into the library at any time and grab some books, and don't forget you can take books out for the entire school holiday period - I'll extend the date so they won't be due back until you come back to school next year. Below is a selection of the new books that will be available next week - as always, there is quite a variety of themes and genres here. I hope to see you before school breaks up!

Hello, all... the year really does feel like its winding down, so its a great time to start thinking about some holiday reading. Here are a bunch of new horror books which have just arrived, including the much anticipated Skulduggery Pleasant novel, The Haunted House on Hollow Hill. If you want a quick read, Graveyard Shift is a good new novella to check out. Remember, while exams are on the library can still be accessed at lunchtime and before 9am.

Hello and happy Friday! Here's a selection of the new books which have been added to the Library of St Bede over the last week. There's adventure, thrillers and sports here - remember that although the library is closed during exams, you can still call in at lunchtime between 12.30-1.30.

Hello, all... don't forget the Library of St Bede will be closed to students during the exam period (5 -29 Nov), except for before 9am and between 12.30-1.30. You are very welcome to use the library and return and borrow books during these periods. The new Guinness Book of Records has just arrived, along with a fascinating book about urban legends - feel free to call in and borrow either of these now!

Hello, all! If you are a graphic novel reader, a couple of new ones have just arrived that are worth looking at. Change the Game follows a teenager at a cross-roads in his life. He's getting offers to play college baseball, but football is where his heart lies. However, he doesn't have a single offer..

They Called Us Enemy is a hard-hitting novel memoir by a Japanese American activist who spend his childhood in American concentration camps. Both are available for borrowing now.

Hello, all... two great new fantasy series to bring to your attention today! Sebastien de Castell (author of the very popular Spellslinger series) has started the Court of Shadows series with a bang. This series promises swordplay, intrigue and friendships, bound together in a swashbuckling adventure.

The Combat Codes series is from a debut author, and it's all about martial arts style warriors who protect their nations in brutal hand-to-hand combat. Set in a combat academy, this series is all about survival in a ruthless world...

Hello, all... today I'm highlighting a couple of new books that are great for browsing or reading small snippets at once. Good Sports is full of short profiles on New Zealand sportspeople, while Kia Kaha follows the same format, highlighting Maori who changed the world. Both books are fully illustrated and great for dipping in and out of.

Hello, all... here's the new book stack for this week, and as usual, there is a bit of everything here. If you like funny, easy to read books in the style of Wimpy Kid, you might like to try the Barry Loser books, but if action, dystopian and sports are more your thing, there are a few of those too. Shoe Dog is the condensed edition of the Nike founder's autobiography, so if you like reading about success stories, give this inspiring book a go. Don't forget to add your reads to the House Points competition!

If you enjoy reading biographies, we have two great new NZ books that are hot off the press. Samuel Whitelock's book is the story of how family, farming and football shaped his life, while Dai Henwood's book is an inspirational account of how to find joy, even when faced with the most sobering of news. Both of these have accompanying photos and are well worth a read!

This adventure mystery series sees Nolan Hawker invited to the world's most dangerous school -The Peak. This fun series is easy to read and fast paced, come and borrow them now!

Hello, all! New book time again today, and we have some beauties here. There are a couple of new sports novels that look really engaging, a few dystopian and fantasy reads, a bit of humour and an intriguing mystery. There's also book three of the Crookhaven series, set at a school for thieves. I loved the first two books, so I highly recommend these! Come and check one out, then tell me when you are finished so I can add it to the house reading competition...

If you are stuck for inspiration, come in and cast your eye over some of the fabulous fantasy novels pictured below. There are so many wonderful, escapist books here, perfect to get lost in!

Hello, all... if you are a fantasy or horror fan, you might like to take a look at these new arrivals. Dragon Rider is the first in a new fantasy series from Taran Matharu, who also wrote the very popular Summoner and Contender series. It stars a male main character trying to survive in a brutal world where everything is stacked against him. A Door in the Dark stars a group of teens who live in a world of magic, but when a spell malfunctions, they find themselves in the middle of the wilderness together...

Stephen King's latest, You Like it Darker, is a collection of short stories, while Find Him Where You Left Him Dead is a horror where four friends return to a deadly game in a nightmare world to save the boy they left for dead. All of these are available for borrowing now!

As well as a heap of fantastic novels and biographies, we have a bunch of new almanac and record books which are great for picking up and flicking through if you only have a few moments to read, or equally good for getting immersed in. Hello! The winter is such a good time to get stuck into a book, and as always, new ones are constantly arriving at The Library of St Bede. This week there are several tense thrillers, a few fantasy novels, a basketball graphic novel, a younger reader's edition of Killers of the Flower Moon, plus a couple of compilations of miscellanea that are always fun to flick through. All of these are available for borrowing now, and don't forget to tell me what you have been reading for the House points competition!

Hello! Highlighting a couple of new sports books today...

Gutless is about Brock, a quarterback known for his speed on the field, but the violence of the game scares him. One of his teammates is being brutally bullied too. Brock somehow needs to find the courage to stand up and do what is right. This hard-hitting book full of sports action would be great for personal responses.

Winger is a coming of age story about Ryan. He's at a wealthy boarding school, sharing a room with the biggest bully on the rugby team, and he's trying hard to get a handle on school, life, rugby and the girl he likes. Then the unthinkable happens, and his life gets turned upside down...
