The point of the Campus is to work with students(and the wider community) to take climate action .

We are a unique state school that operates collaboratively with all age groups.

While we were organising some fruit trees this afternoon, it started to rain (finally), so we decided to shelter in one of the tunnel houses. While we were exploring some of the tropical plants one of the students noticed a freshly hatched monarch butterfly. What a lovely surprise when she decided to jump onto one of the students hands to hitch a ride to some nectar.

Bromley has done a beautiful job today painting letters on the language box for our sensory garden area. Thank you.

Big thank you to Prestons Mitre 10 for their kind donation of gloves and trowels to the campus supply. We were struggling to find gloves suitable for little hands to help them learn about the importance of gardening and food security. We really appreciate your support.

14 days to go, make your submission while you can!

We have 11 days to make submission on the HSNO Amendment Bill. Your submission can be very simple like -
- The parts of the Bill relating to new organisms/ GM organisms must be put on hold until Regulatory and Process objectives and rules have been disclosed to the public.
- The Select Committee must not allow amendments that will undermine democracy or will result in GE contamination undermining New Zealand's zero contamination status, GE-free reputation and future exports.
- I object to amendments that create unacceptable discretionary powers to exclude New Zealanders from notification and enable fast-tracked approvals for release of GE organisms.

Big thank you to the Rainbow Restoration Ōtautahi team for helping keep our natives warm and w**d free, with a thick layer of mulch.

As part of our Awa Engagement Programme offerings, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside the Tūhono Taonga, Tūhono Tāngata community to provide carving workshops for ākonga at CAC.

Recently, learners from Ao Tawhiti joined Jon on-site to explore the art of carving and collectively create three taonga. Alongside creating their own class pieces, the students also contributed to a much bigger kaupapa, helping sand some of the 200 taonga Jon is preparing for an upcoming international conference.

As always, Jon (alongside the learners) brought plenty of laughter to the day as they sanded, took part in binding the taonga, watched Jon and Tutoko in their element, and blessed their creations in the awa.

Ngā mihi nui to Jon and his incredible team, who we are so lucky to have here at CAC.

These offerings have been made possible thanks to the Community Waterways Partnership Grant at Christchurch City Council
