Many have days & days owing to them but once out of a permanent contract it seems it can often be hard to claim any of them.

Did you know as a relief teacher you are entitled to sick days if you are unwell on a day you have work pre-booked?

Many relief teachers are aware of this but decide not to ask for what they are entitled to due to wanting to avoid any conflict with a school. The sad reality is that sometimes teachers won’t be asked back somewhere if they have requested for sick leave to be paid. Thankfully this is becoming less common now but is still the reality for some.

🤒 Relief demand in Canterbury is currently through the roof. Winter bugs have definitely hit early this year and there has been a huge spike in Covid cases across our region too.

🍂 And that’s the end of Term 1 🍂

Those 11 weeks sped by & we had the privilege of supporting so many schools with their relief needs, welcomed incredible new teachers to our team and helped get a handful of our team into fixed term contracts! 👏🏻

What an amazing start to 2024!

Now it’s time for our team to put their feet up, enjoy some autumn sun, take a walk in the park, admire the autumn colours and crunch in some leaves.

Our office will be working at reduced hours over the term break while we enjoy doing all those things with our family too 🍂
