Ōtautahi teachers 'gatebreak' digital tech success – Education Gazette 17/05/2024

Congratulations to the Burnside High School Technology Department who recently won the ITP Gerard MacManus Excellence in (IT) Education Award, and to John Creighton, Head of Faculty Technology, who was awarded a life membership to the Digital Technology Teachers' Association for his services to the subject association.

Ōtautahi teachers 'gatebreak' digital tech success – Education Gazette Burnside High School teachers are casting a wide net with Techquity, an innovative online resource aiming to equip educators across Aotearoa New Zealand with the tools they need to teach digital technologies effectively.

The Year 11 Geography students enjoyed an engaging day investigating the nuances behind the fluctuation of residential property values in Christchurch. The day commenced with an informative lecture at the University of Canterbury, followed by fieldwork in Addington and Fendalton. Additionally, we conducted a transect profile analysis, contrasting the inner-city areas of Chester Street East and West.

Congratulations to all our teams and athletes who competed in various locations throughout New Zealand as part of the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Summer Tournament week (Mon 18 March - Fri 22 March).

A huge well done to Ben Lough who placed 3rd in the U14 Boys grade at the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Triathlon Championships in Mount Maunganui.

Congratulations also to the Senior Girls Touch team who placed 3rd at the South Island Secondary Schools Touch Championships, and the Senior A Boys Volleyball team who placed 1st in Division 2 of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Volleyball championships.
