We have a winner!!! There were 74 little eggs in the jar at the end of term one. Mr H from our Wednesday extension class was the closest with a guess of 73, he was DELIGHTED to take the jar home this week!

📣 Introducing Terence Yang, one of our three Irelands Interns for 2026!

Thanks to the generosity of Irelands - Property Made Easy, each year CSO offers three aspiring young musicians the opportunity to intern with CSO and get a taste of pursuing a career in the world of orchestral music. We’re delighted to announce our Irelands Interns for 2026!

Terence, aged 16, is a student at St Andrew’s College, where he is a long-standing member of the St Andrew's College Orchestra. His focus is on flute, which he studies under Anthony Ferner, but his training spans piano (LTCL) and Music Theory (ABRSM Grade 7). Terence also achieved Flute ABRSM Grade 8 with Distinction.

From international to local stages, Terence has even played the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York as winner of the 2023 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition. His involvement in his music community has seen him play in the Lion’s Christchurch Schools’ Music Festival Orchestra, at numerous recitals and performances around Ōtautahi Christchurch, and in the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Symphony Orchestra this year.

Terence has been the recipient of the Music Scholarship 2022 and 2024, and the Pettman Music Scholarship in 2022. That same year, he was awarded first place as Most Promising Boy at the Christchurch Music Competition.

Terence has attended masterclasses under internationally renowned flutists Emily Beynon and Alena Walentin, and his seven years in the St Andrew’s College Orchestra has only deepened his passion for orchestral music. His dream is to one day play in a professional orchestra.

Special thanks to Irelands Real Estate for their generosity in supporting this internship programme and boosting the careers of aspiring young musicians in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Try something musical with your child this year, attend and WIN!
We would LOVE to invite you along to try a class with us and see why we think our lessons are so much FUN. Students will enjoy learning their first pieces on the piano as well as a lesson packed full of song, rhythm, notation and games.
Our teachers are parents too so we would love for you to come along and try a session for free to see if the class is a good fit for you and your family. Message to register as places are strictly limited.

Music classes your mini will LOVE!

We are excited to begin term four with opening a new Little Beebopper Class on Saturdays 11.15am-12.00pm. Our course is designed with the development of three year old in mind and includes songs for pitch development, rhythm & percussion, basic notation and musical sign knowledge, fine & gross motor-skill development and fun. We love making music with our students and their parent/caregiver each week in our vibrant and themed lessons.
