Our first team were amazing at the Wanaka. 9 hours of laughs, miles and smiles and some hard work too!

🎉Congratulations ladies!

You are all amazing role models for not only all of the young people around you but also all of the people who you have inspired along the way the moment you said ‘yes’ to stepping outside of your comfort zone.

🧡 Aroha from afar 🧡

Kia ora everyone. I was going to quickly check in, but as has been my habit of late, this is not a quick post! That’s because I wanted to share some resources that have been designed to help with the impacts of COVID-19.

I know that people may be starting to feel the pressures of self-isolation, and I know many will be feeling lonely or struggling with the uncertainty of the situation. I want to let you know, you are not alone, and there is support available. This week we launched a new mental health initiative called ‘Getting through together’, so if you do need support, you can reach out and find resources available on the allright.org.nz website.

This is also going to be a tricky time for parents, with children of all ages. We announced today that there is a plan in place for supporting online-learning for your school-aged children. It includes distributing devices to homes that need them, ramping up internet connections, providing hard copy educational materials and launching dedicated education broadcasts on free-to-air TV (in both English and Te Reo), so that our children can keep learning. To also support childrens’ well being, a new tool for parents called ‘Sparklers at Home’ has been launched, so if you have little ones in your bubble, I’d recommend checking out these activities at https://sparklers.org.nz/parenting/.

Otherwise, keep up the incredible work, New Zealand.

Aroha from afar.

This looks beautiful. Tell us in the comments below what books you are loving right now.

In his new book, "The Seed of Compassion", His Holiness the Dalai Lama addresses children directly, sharing lessons of peace and compassion, told through stories of his own childhood.
