This week, after months of reading and studying every detail of 12 books, 15 of our students competed in the 2026 Literacy Quiz. Up against teams from other Christchurch schools, the competition was tense!
South Hornby School came away with a 3rd place.
Well done, everyone and thank you, Mrs Sachdeva, for all your help and administration in helping us to prepare.

Last week, our Children's University students spent the day at Lincoln University, earning some extra hours for their learner passports and experiencing life on campus, at the sports facilities, in the science labs, and in the landscape architecture dept.

A couple of weeks ago, a group of senior students visited Orana Park. Our guide, Elizabeth, answered endless questions from this group of animal enthusiasts. The weather was kind, and we had a wonderful morning together. Thank you to our helpers, Mr & Mrs Key and Mrs Trotter.

Week 5 update

📕📘BOOK WEEK WAS EPIC!📗📙
Wow! What a mammoth week!
We had our "World Famous" Book Swap.
We had author Andy Dickson come and read to each hub on Friday.
Each day teachers swapped around for Read & Feed and read to a different class.
We had our Junior and Senior daily Book Week Quiz.
We had a Where's Wally Scavenger Hunt around the school.
We had our "Oh The Places You Can Read" competition (winners will be announced on Tuesday).
And to finish the week we had our Book Character Dress Up Day - with a parade around the courtyard.
