For the Butterfly Room’s term topic “Around Te Ao” (world) we have been learning about different countries from the world. 🌍

To start our topic, we focused on learning about New Zealand for a week. We learnt about what a Prime Minister is and how he is the ‘boss’ of the country. We learnt about Christopher Luxon and even wrote him some letters and asked him some questions. 📝✏

Today we received a letter back from him answering all our questions. ❓
We had so much fun reading them as a class! 🙂

This week the Nursery began our new term focus - how things move!
We started by exploring vehicles and transport, a topic that has sparked lots of excitement!
We learnt about buses, rubbish trucks, trains, and race cars, discovering what each vehicle is used for and the unique sounds they make. 🚌🚋🚚
We then got very creative by doing painting of our own buses, rubbish trucks, trains, and race cars, and even used toy cars to make colourful tracks and patterns on the paper. 🎨
We also had fun playing vehicle bingo, listening carefully to different transport sounds and matching them to the correct vehicle. 🏎🚜👂

We can't wait to continue discovering more about how things move throughout the term! 🙂❤👍

This week to celebrate Matariki the Nursery tamariki made some parāoa parai (fry bread). 🍞🥖
This is a very simple yet yummy recipe that everyone loved helping make it and enjoyed eating more! ❤🙂👍

Today we were lucky enough to have Nikki from St John visit. During her visit we saw pictures of emergency services. 🚑Nikki shared some of the equipment we might see on an ambulance, tried on some special jackets and practiced putting bandages on ourselves. 🩺

Today we all celebrated Matariki with a shared music session with Loopy Tunes Preschool Music and morning tea with our whanau!

We had a great time upstairs learning some new songs and dancing along with our friends. 🕺🎤

Over the past few months, we've been making improvements to our lower playground, and today, with the help of our tamariki, we gave it our very own "unofficial" grand opening! ❤🏀⚽️

After a thorough inspection by our expert playground testers (the children!), we're pleased to report that the new area has been approved. 👍🥇

Its fantastic to see the tamariki having so much fun with their friends and making the most of the new space. 🙂👍🌟

Today the Caterpillar tamariki were lucky to have Catherine from Parklands United sports club come and do football with them. ⚽
We played a few games practicing stopping with the ball and shooting goals. 🥅
It was also pretty cool to get some ribbons and stickers to take home too for our participation. 🥇❤🙂

The children and teachers are enjoying the great May weather. 🌤Getting outdoors to run around or explore, has been great for us all! 🏃‍♀️
It is nice to observe the children having fun dinning in the sandpit, ball play, crawling in the tunnel and loads more activities. ⚽ Allowing us all to get some fresh air outside on a daily basis and burn off infant and toddler energy is a bonus for everyone! ❤ 👍
