✨ This week, Tui has been preparing for Matariki by learning about what each of the nine stars represents. ✨

Today in writing, we focused on Hiwa-i-te-Rangi, the wishing star, which is associated with hopes, dreams, and aspirations for the future.

Here are some of the wishes the children shared. ⭐

💦 Toloa have had a fantastic time in their swimming lessons this week! Tamariki have thoroughly enjoyed working with the instructors, building their confidence in the water, developing their swimming skills, and learning important water safety messages.

A huge shout-out to them all, for the positive attitudes they have shown and for giving everything a go. We are incredibly proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and determination they have brought to each session.

Ka pai, Toloa! 🏊‍♂️👏

Ruru and Riroriro wrapped up our Siapo inquiry with a visit to the 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 exhibition at the Christchurch Art Gallery 🌺🎨

We learnt how Pasifika stories are shared through handmade art and helped weave a fala that reflected our identities. Riroriro also visited the dinosaur exhibition, while Ruru enjoyed Margaret Mahy Playground and Tūranga Library. Meitaki to all those that made this possible. 🙌

🌟 These three young kaitiaki deserve a special shout-out! 🌟

For the past two weeks, Trinity, Evelyn, and Lotus have spent their break times picking up rubbish around our school. Their dedication and care for our environment have been inspiring to see. 💚

Ngā mihi nui also to the many tamariki who have joined them along the way. Your actions show real whakahī (pride) and whakaute (respect) for our kura.

Ka pai tō mahi, koutou! 👏

Kārearea have worked incredibly hard this term creating information reports on topics of their choice. From researching and writing to editing and designing, they should be very proud of their amazing mahi! 📚✨

This week, we had the opportunity to share our finished reports with Pīwakawaka. It was wonderful to see our tamariki confidently sharing their learning, celebrating each other’s work, and enjoying some games together afterwards. 🎉🙌🏼

A special experience for everyone involved, and we can’t wait to do it again! ❤️👏

📏 Yesterday in Math, Tui were learning about measuring width. Tamariki used their bodies to measure the width of the classroom in very creative ways. Some groups used their body length or hand length, while others counted in roly-polys. 🤸

Ākonga then drew how they measured in their math books, and practised writing numbers. ✍🔢 It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged in their learning.

Ka pai, Tui! 🌟😊

We are aware of strep throat within our community and would like to provide whānau with information about how this illness may present and what symptoms to look out for.

Strep throat is a bacterial infection that commonly causes a sore throat, pain when swallowing, fever, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, and red or swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches. Some tamariki may also experience headaches, stomach pain, nausea, or a rash.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀, 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent the spread of infection and reduce the risk of complications.

We encourage everyone to continue practising good hygiene, including regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when unwell.
