St Albans Catholic School

Our school was established in 1955 by the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch. Its purpose, both then a Catholic School catering for Year 1-6 students.

Founded by Congregation of Holy Faith Sisters in 1954. We are a highly regarded school within the community.

Operating as usual

Due to the cold and possibly wet weather, we have moved the Holy Week Reenactment into the library. Unfortunately, due to the size of the library, we cannot have parents attend to watch. We apologise for this inconvenience.

Wishing you a happy and safe Easter.

Photos from St Albans Catholic School's post 20/10/2022

It has been a busy day for our Year 5 and 6 students. All the children today participated in tree climbing. Some great determination from the children and it was awesome to hear words of encouragement for their classmates. The children also participated in Mission Impossible - team building activities. Two groups completed their mountain biking today and one group completed their bush skills activities. More photos will be shared at a later time.

Today the children will have three activities starting at 9:30am.

Our Year 5 and 6 are on the road to camp.
We will keep you updated of our adventures over the next few days.

The students will travel to the park by bus. In order for us to organise buses to return students to school, please indicate on the following form whether your child will be returning to school or picked up by a parent/caregiver.

What an eventful week. Thank you to everyone who came out to support Book Week and the Book Fair.

We hosted an afternoon tea for Grandparents and Special Friends on Wednesday. The children were ecstatic to share the Book Fair and their stories.

Today, the children dressed up in their best costumes to celebrate Character Day. We had characters from various stories that the children were excited to share with their class.

A special acknowledgement to Mrs Gall for her organisation of the Book Fair and preparing these events for the week. Her planning, organisation and management of the week are much appreciated by the school community.

Once again, thank you to our school community for supporting us this week.

Wishing all our Fathers a great and blessed day. Thank you for all you do.

We wish all Fathers and father figures a very Happy Father's Day! 🙏💙🙏

Through the intercession of St. Joseph, may you be abundantly blessed today!

YCC Day - 8th July

On Friday 8 July the children can wear school and weather-appropriate non-uniform clothes for a gold coin donation.

Each year Caritas combines with Catholic schools across New Zealand as together we stand in solidarity and raise funds and awareness for a selected focus school.

For YCC Day in 2022, we are supporting Laura Vicuna School in Bethlehem. Laura Vicuna School is a small school situated in the Holy Land. The school began in 1988 and is in dire need of support to fix and repair toilets, purchase a new laptop and projector as well as round tables for small group learning activities.

Mānawatia a Matariki e hoa mā!

Today we celebrate Matariki ✨ Mānawatia a Matariki means welcome, honour or celebrate Matariki. This phrase was developed by Rangi Matamua and Hēmi Kelly.

says, “I think it’s important that if we’re going to celebrate something that comes out of a Māori context, we use the correct terms and the correct language around the celebration.”

REMINDER - Teacher Only Day: Friday 3 June

On Friday 03 June, St Albans Catholic will be having a Teachers Only Day in order for staff to participate in some professional development.
School will also be closed on Monday 06 June for Queen’s Birthday.

Remember tomorrow is the Cross Country. The children will need their PE Gear/shoes and a named drink bottle.

If the children do not have PE Gear they can wear their Summer Uniform as it will be more comfortable for them to run in.
