A huge thank you to all the wonderful parents who joined us at Riccarton Bush today!

Our tamariki had a fantastic time sketching native plants, exploring the bush on a wildlife tour, and taking a step back in time through the historic Riccarton House and the Deans family's first home. Riccarton House is one of Canterbury’s oldest pioneer homesteads, sitting right alongside Christchurch's ancient kahikatea forest.

Highlights of the day included genuine disbelief that a typewriter could exist without being connected to the internet, and the historic chamber pots also sparked plenty of lively debate!

We couldn't run these rich experiences without our incredible parent helpers. Thank you for your time and support!

What a fantastic effort from our Jump Jammers! They’ve been working hard with Mrs Sauni (and Miss Waites) for over a term, culminating in an wonderful performance last Saturday evening.

We were proud to see a large, strong mix of Year 5 to 8 students on stage, including the largest group of boys in our section.

Congratulations to the team on gaining Merits in both Presentation and Technical Ex*****on, what an awesome result.

🎸 BANDQUEST 2026!

What an incredible night at the James Hay Theatre! Last night, our band performed their set. The Food Fighters brought energy, tight musicianship, and immense pride to our school. Out of 16 competing bands, our small school punched well above its weight!

A massive congratulations to our individual and team award winners:
🎸 Lachie & Nicky – Awarded Best Guitarists of the Evening
🥁 Tessa – Awarded Top Specialist Instrument (Percussion)
🥈 THE FOOD FIGHTERS – 2ND PLACE OVERALL!

All those extra Saturday and Sunday rehearsals paid off!

A huge thank you to the amazing Tyler from Monster Music NZ for his guidance and mentorship, and to our incredible parent whānau for your support in helping our children flourish in Ōtautahi.

We've had a whale of a time today! Project Jonah came in with their life sized Humpback Whale (36 feet). It was incredible to go inside and see the life-sized organs, too.

Welcome back! What a buzz to walk in this morning to a World Cup Final (yes - we've let the children watch it this morning...) and to hear all about our childrens successes over the holiday break. From Maria singing the opening song at the school holiday programme, to ballet, rock-a-thon, highland dancing successes and football tournaments. It is fantastic to hear about children exploring and developing their passions.

We especially congratulate our student leaders: Pearl Cooper
Jared, Liam, Jock, Lachlan, Katherine, Shalom Maria, and Tessa. You are going to be an asset to our school because of your work ethic, dedication and positivity!

Our Student Council team are getting going this week as well! Alexandria, Jesse Cris, Charlotte, Jock, Luana, Ollie, Paolo, and Tara. Go well! We can't wait to support you in your initiatives.
