A Bedean Always.

From catching the 7.30am train from Kaiapoi as a youngster, to becoming a lifelong supporter of the St Bede’s College community, Robin Corcoran’s connection to the college spanned more than six decades. Twice President of the Old Boys’ Association, legal and financial advisor, committee member, trustee, and proud father, Robin lived out the Bedean motto, Fide et Opere, in everything he did.

In the centenary year of our Annual Dinner, we honour this St Bede’s Icon, and reflect on a life lived in steadfast service to his school, church, and country.

A window into the past...

Step back in time with this remarkable footage of St Bede’s College in the late 1950s. Captured by old boy Tim Dyce (1957–1961), these films offer a rare glimpse into college life in the mid-20th century.

You can discover the story behind the camera in our latest old boys' newsletter: https://hail.to/st-bedes-college/publication/nDQ1X05

Ngā mihi Mr Davidson!

After 28 and a half years of dedicated service, we farewell Mr Gerry Davidson as he begins his well-earned retirement. Nearly three decades of quiet strength, loyalty, and belief in the values of our college have left a legacy that will be felt for years to come. Gerry has been much more than a staff member — he’s been a steady, familiar presence.
Thank you, Mr Davidson for your dedication, humour and humility. You’ve shaped this place in more ways than you know. ❤️🖤

For the first time in over a decade, we’re naming new icons of St Bede’s... and what better occasion than the Centennial Old Boys’ Dinner to make history again.

In the lead-up to this special night, we’re revisiting the six remarkable Bedeans who were honoured as the college’s first icons. Men whose lives, values, and service left a lasting legacy.

First up is Gary Lennon (1953–1957) – Pupil, Teacher, Coach and Leader. A man whose decades of service shaped generations. His leadership and humility, embodied Fide et Opere – by Faith and by Works.

We’re proud to share that the Bedean Choir will perform at the Wednesdays at One concert series this week! It is a great opportunity to hear our talented students in action, and we know they would love to see some of our old boys in the audience too!

A reminder that St Bede's is giving a lunchtime concert tomorrow (Wednesday) at St Mary's ProCathedral Music Centre at 1:10pm. In addition to the Bedean Choir, choir members will perform as soloists, and in duos and groups, presenting a wide range of music. Programmes are $15 at the door. Please allow time for parking in this busy part of town.

Oops – Time Correction!

Heads up, Auckland old boys! The kick-off time for the 1st XV match vs St Peter’s today is actually 12.45pm, not 12pm as previously shared. That means that there is plenty of time to grab a coffee before heading to the sideline.

The gathering at the Horse & Trap is still kicking off at 4pm – we hope to see you there for a few yarns and a cold one.
