University of Canterbury Cinema Studies Department The official page of the Cinema Studies Department at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

Cinema Studies at the University of Canterbury encourages students to view films critically and to reflect upon their own role as spectators and consumers of cinematic images. Our courses reflect the global scope of film history by covering a wide range of films and directors from the era of silent film and the advent of sound (1896–1930s), the heyday of Hollywood and international art cinema (1939–1980s), the globalisation of film and contemporary world cinema (1990s to the present). If you are interested in studying with us, whether you're starting out or are interested in a higher research degree such as an MA or a PhD, we'd love to hear from you.

Film Club is a great resource and network for anyone taking Cinema Studies, so be sure to pay them a visit tomorrow (that's Wednesday 19th of February).
